The Too Much TV Roundup- 07/26/23

It’s kind of amazing how sloe the TV news is during the strike. It’s almost like all of the various streamers are angry at their shows, and can’t pick any of them up for another season. of course, they also can’t negotiate contracts with the actors, so there’s that too. 11) Skull Island (Netflix) English Audio Description?: Yes Status: Unknown I think I keep hoping for that perfect magic that Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous gave me, but Skull Island is struggling to give me that balance. Some of the characters feel aimed at an older audience, while there’s still one … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- 07/26/23

I’ve been deep diving a bit more into the SAG-AFTRA talks and some of the stuff they’re requesting isn’t unreasonable. Actually, none of it is. Just take some of these CEO salaries, lower them, and you’ll have the money to pay for some of this stuff. Also, for the poor people without cable or Peacock, Yellowstone is coming to CBS in the fall since they are a little short on new programming. Add to that, the UK version of Ghosts, which I’m at least interested in checking out.

12) 8 Simple Rules (Disney plus) English Audio Description?: No Sorry, this was a tough day to rank, and 8 Simple Rules just felt like it missed a mark the most. This episode had a solid reference to Three’s Company, but squandered the “kids out of the house” moment by not letting the adults actually have any meaningful time together. john Ritter’s time on the show was fleeting, and I can’t help but think this missed a mark to show that Paul and Kate were more than just parents. What made it worse was that Kate tried so hard to … Continue reading I’ve been deep diving a bit more into the SAG-AFTRA talks and some of the stuff they’re requesting isn’t unreasonable. CBS already is talking about not being worried about next season as they have Paramount Plus shows to rely on. Meanwhile, since today is Wednesday, in the middle of June, I feel the need to point out that this is when ABC has decided to drop the second season of The Wonder Years. Clearly, it’s a burn off. With the writer’s strike, any sensible person would have accepted this moving to at least a late summer (August) launch so it could bleed into the beginning of the fall season and give ABC some fresh content. Maybe ABC is planning on … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- 06/13/23

Well, HBo cancelled Perry Mason after two seasons. What a shame. Honestly, they were trying to elevate it, but Perry Mason would be a lot better off as just a regular procedural on CBS. 12) Family Matters (MAX) English Audio Description?: Yes Status: Ended That opening urkel joke was a groaner. Then, walking outside to tell your whole family not to drive this car, was like begging them to do so. Obviously, shenanigans were bound to happen. Episode Grade: C+ 11) Dinosaurs (Disney plus) English Audio Description?: No Status: Ended Robbie doesn’t know if he wants to be a carnivore or … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- 06/06/23

Lots of interesting TV news. Danny Masterson clearly will not be appearing on That 90’s Show ever. Kim Cattral will be returning to And Just Like That next season. Oh, and it’s technically June 1st, so Happy Pride Month! 12) Fatal Attraction (Paramount Plus) English Audio Description?: Yes Status: Not Yet Renewed I think this just fell on bottom due to several things. First, I’m not a big fan of the monotone narration. Not that there’s the best way to describe when a man enters a woman and starts thrusting, but there’s something just so lifeless about how those scenes … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- 05/31/23

Well, FOX is still holding out on some decisions but announced a writer’s proof schedule full of reality TV. They even revived Kitchen Nightmares. I believe ABC is the only network that hasn’t done an upfront yet, possibly also The CW. It’s hard to tell in this day and age when the Networks are feeling less energized and also avoiding writer’s strike blowback. 11) Tiny beautiful Things (Hulu) English Audio Description?: Yes Status: Limited Series I think with each episode of Kathryn Hahn’s dark comedy I tend to dislike it more. I’m not really settling in, nor do I feel … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- 05/15/23

You know what today is. It’s the day we are all supposed to post that Justin Timberlake/*NSYNC meme “It’s Gonna Be May”. Don’t worry. I’m here to remind you of useless knowledge to keep your socials on fleek. Also, no one says “on fleek” anymore. 11) history of The World Part 2 (hulu) English Audio Description?: Yes I really feel like someone who is not Mel Brooks wrote the script, had Mel brooks look at it, and possibly punch it up a bit, and then he gave it his blessing. There are so many jokes here that fall flat and … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- 04/29/23
