Here’s the first look at Katherine Heigl’s big return to TV. It’s the NBC drama State Of Affairs, which NBC has tentatively slated to follow The Voice next fall. That’s the same launching platform that turned The Blacklist into a runaway hit. This pilot even has the same director, and a similar “terrorist hunting” theme. It still looks different enough to be interesting. Are you sold on it?

For me, this looks like it might be a great pilot, even if Katherine Heigl feels a bit out of place and a little wooden. I felt the same way about Megan Boone on The Blacklist, but she slowly won me over. This could be a bit more of that. And, Alfre Woodard is the President. Not a bad choice.
