Again, I previously lamented how unlikely new blood will be in these categories. It’s a sad, but true fact of how boring and predictable the Emmy’s have become. This category is a bit different from supporting actress, as a few new faces have made an impact this go around. We’re seeing a decent amount of support for Louie Anderson on the FX series Baskets, as well as Hugh Laurie for Veep. Either of those men could shake up the category.
WILL BE NOMINATED: Tony Hale (Veep), Tituss Burgess (Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt), Ty Burrell (Modern Family)
WILD CARDS: Andre Braugher (Brooklyn Nine Nine), Adam Driver (Girls), Louie Anderson (Baskets), Hugh Laurie (Veep), and any remaining cast members of Modern Family.
DARK HORSES: Laurence Fishburne (Black-ish), TJ Miller (Silicon Valley), Noah Galvin (The Real O’Neals), Taran Killam (SNL), Martin Sheen (Grace and Frankie), Sam Waterston (Grace and Frankie)
SHOULDA BEEN A CONTENDER: Paul Rudd (Wet Hot American Summer)
As far as the win, which should have gone to Tituss Burgess last year, I’m wondering if he can nail it this year. If not, it looks like Tony Hale might run away with it again. He would have my vote.
