The big question here is will the Emmy voters embrace the ladies of The CW. Traditionally, the CW is ignored in major categories. There’s a solid push for both Bloom and Rodriguez, and they have an equal shot. Odds are they won’t both make it, neither will both Tomlin and Fonda. That could leave room for a Dark Horse, if they play their cards right. It’s the last chance to nominate McCarthy for Mike and Molly, which could give her a few more votes, or one of the new shows could break through, like Klausner or Curtis.
WILL BE NOMINATED: Julia Louis-Dreyfus (Veep), Ellie Kemper (Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt), Amy Schumer (Inside Amy Schumer)
WILD CARDS: Rachel Bloom (Crazy Ex-Girlfriend), Gina Rodriguez (Jane The Virgin), Lily Tomlin (Grace and Frankie), Jane Fonda (Grace and Frankie)
DARK HORSES: Tracee Ellis Ross (Black-ish), Constance Wu (Fresh Off The Boat), Melissa McCarthy (Mike and Molly), Anna Faris (Mom), Lena Dunham (Girls), Sutton Foster (Younger), Julie Klausner (Difficult People), Jamie Lee Curtis (Scream Queens)
SHOULDA BEEN A CONTENDER: Emma Roberts (Scream Queens), America Ferrera (Superstore), Rashida Jones (Angie Tribeca)
I’d like to say Kemper has a shot of beating Louis-Dreyfus, or even Schumer, but I think Louis-Dreyfus is gonna win AGAIN. If I were nominating, I’d be sure to put Emma Roberts on my list, but I’d still vote for Kemper for the win.
