Actor Profile: Jake Gyllenhaal

Jake Gyllenhaal is one of my favorite actors. He’s been at the top of my list since The Good Girl, which first showed me what he was truly capable of, and he has continued to grow as an actor. We should be handing this guy an Oscar very soon.

BEST PERFORMANCE:
There are so many great performances. No, I’m not picking Brokeback Mountain. In fact, I honestly think his turn last year in Southpaw was a career high for him. He went all in, and his emotional depth really brought something to the role.

MOST ICONIC PERFORMANCE:
To a bunch of Hot Topic kids, he’ll forever be remembered as Donnie Darko, but he might also be known most for Brokeback Mountain.

MOST UNDERRATED PERFORMANCE:
No one saw Demolition this year, and he’s great in that. I’d also nominate Brothers as a strong second.

BEST PERFORMANCE I’VE HEARD WAS GOOD AND HAVEN’T SEEN
I honestly haven’t gotten around to seeing Nightcrawler yet. I will. I promise.

WORST PERFORMANCE/FILM
Oh yeah, definitely Bubble Boy. I fucking hate that movie. One of the worst films I’ve ever seen. I forgave him for it though.
