The Too Much TV Roundup- 01/17/22

I managed more TV than I thought i would yesterday, so that was nice. Pro Tip: If you’re doing your morning exercise and trying to catch up on a show, don’t make it From Scratch. I felt so weird trying to exercise and not cry.

The English (Amazon)

English Audio Description?: Yes

I’m actually surprised Everytime I finish an episode and there seems to be one more. I’m now at that point where I think this might have been too long for its own good, but would ahve made a killer movie.

Episode Grade: B-

7) Welcome To Chippendales (Hulu)

English Audio Description?: Yes

Not my favorite episode. We saw our favorite choreographer head to New York so people can kiss his ass, including Andrew Rannells, and give him the kind of inflated ego for him to rush back to Steve with this whole “listen to me, or I’ll open a competition and take half the dancers.” Perhaps exotic male dancers weren’t mainstream at the time, but he only has like 8 dancers in his stable. Even if he only took a few, he wouldn’t have enough to compete right away, and it’s not like Steve can’t just find another choreographer and more male dancers.Such an anti-climatic end and empty threat.

Episode Grade: B

6) Willow (Disney Plus)

English Audio Description?: Yes

An episode that was interesting, but did little to further the show. Braden was transforming into something terrible and it was up to Willow and Alarra to save him. But they were also trapped in this bizarre place that kept toying with their minds. Not much happened, except Alarra is now more confident.

Episode Grade: B

5) Slow Horses (Apple Plus)

English Audio Description?: Yes

The Horses take a loss as it turns out that cliffhanger last episode didn’t end well. It’s so weird to think that this is Gary oldman’s final acting gig before he retires.

Episode Grade: B

4) Let The Right One In (Paramount Plus)

English Audio Description?: Yes

I do really love that they have totally reinvented this premise, but damn this show needs Paramount Plus to actually care to carry the audio description Showtime has made for the show. I do not know why this is so hard. I kinda wish I had been a major celebrity or insta famous so i could spend every day harassing Paramount about this. It’s utter nonsense. I want to love this show more, but it’s clearly a show where I’m missing quite a bit.

Episode Grade: B+

3) Abbott Elementary (ABC/Hulu)

English Audio Description?: Yes

Janeane had to try and figure out how to get two girls in her classs to stop fighting, while Gregory gave his dad a tour of the school, and Ava was quite thirsty.

Episode Grade: A

2) Riches (Amazon)

English Audio Description?: Yes

Oh this show is my new hotness. My new obsession. I love when a show knows exactly what it is, what it’s story arc is, who the characters are, has a perfect cast, and a solid writers room. No, this isn’t Succession, but it’s like the sensational version of Succession. Some may call this a guilty pleasure, but I don’t feel guilty for watching this at all. Not one bit.

Episode Grade: A

1) From Scratch (Netflix)

English Audio Description?: Yes

I had no idea we would end up here. Episode 7. First, Zoe Saldana is amazing. Possibly the best acting of her career is in this show. But, wow. Episode 7 is absolutely fucking heartbreaking, and I was trying to get my workout in, and trying not to cry. I’m scared of Episode 8.

Episode Grade: A+
