The Too Much TV Roundup- 01/20/23

I imagine there was a conversation happening yesterday at the Cock that went a little like this…

:Look at this dumb fucker. He’s finishing One of us is Lying, like that’s going to matter.”

“He has no idea what’s coming.”

“What a loser.”

Somewhere, in my effort to support this damn thing, they cancelled it the same day i finished the season. Like God forbid I get a heads up on watching something I’m not sure needed a second season. That’s right. I actually don’t care that it got cancelled, nor do i care that CBS is parting ways with the NCIS LA crew, or Apple is dumping The mosquito Coast. I do however want to find the person responsible for Vampire Academy, but then i realize it’s peacock, and if they offered me a show on that service right now I’d pass, because they haven’t given a single indication they have plans to stick with any show beyond two seasons. So, even if VA had gotten the renewal, likely it would have only been one more season. Peacock needs a long term hit like a baby needs oxygen.

8) three Pines (Amazon)

English Audio Description?: Yes

After three episodes, I’m moving on from this series. I’m way too far behind, there are too many shows, and as much as I love Alfred Molina, this is not the right show to showcase his talents. In the pantheon of crime/murder mysteries, this is somewhere around The Cosby Mysteries.

Episode Grade: C

7) One Of us is Lying (Peacock)

English Audio Description?: Yes

All the second season did was stretch a concept out with the same cast. This should have been an anthology series with a clear end. The second season did expand upon the vlogger who was seeking insta-fame, which actually made her interesting for once. By the end of the series, she was the only one I was going to miss after that cancellation. A very disappointing end. Simon says cancelled.

Episode Grade: C+

6) The Chase (ABC/Hulu)

English Audio Description?: No

Really any of these trivia shows i watched yesterday could be here. They are all in a virtual tie, and none of them had audio description.

Episode Grade: B

5) Name That Tune (FOX/Hulu)

English Audio Description?: no

Again, these trivia shows are essentially tied.

Episode Grade: B

4) Celebrity Jeopardy (ABC/Hulu)

English Audio Description?: No

Once again, consider these shows tied.

3) Inside Amy Schumer (Paramount Plus)

English Audio Description?: YesA

Free my favorite episode last week, this weeks episode was just Ok. Some good sketches, but these songs at the end are a waste of my time.

Episode Grade: B+

2) Home Economics (ABC/hulu)E

Mulish Audio Description?: Yes

I’d be sad to see this show go.It has a solid ensemble, it now needs to use Casey Wilson a lot more in Season 4, but a 13 episode third season just doesn’t make me feel great about its renewal chances. if they cancel this and continue to keep The Goldbergs on life support, I’m going to be upset.

Episode Grade: A-

1) The Peripheral (Amazon)

English Audio Description?: Yes

Man, this episode was nuts. That cop in the future turns out to be a much more fun character than i initially predicted, and Tommy is now a badass. Did Amazon give this a second season? Please. please say yes.

Episode Grade: A
