The Too Much TV Roundup- 02/11/23

The past few days have seen me all move on from a show. Peak television means i really can’t be screwing around with shows I don’t like, or shows with no future that I’m not in love with. Today is no different.

8) Accused (FOX/Hulu)

English Audio Description?: No

So, first off, since there was a lot of talk about the subject matter of the first episode, let me just say my decision to not follow the series has very little to do with that, if at all. An odd, but bold choice. No, this show is hard to follow without audio description, and its format, which sees a completely new cast each episode, is not one I’m looking forward to following. Anthology series are tough to get me really into, considering the short nature. It’s just not my thing, and it became even more so because Hulu wasn’t running audio description.

Episode Grade: C

7) Wolf Pack (Paramount Plus)

English Audio Description?: Yes

I was hoping this would fill the Vampire Academy hole in my heart, but I couldn’t latch on to anyone. Granted, I did not watch Teen Wolf, and I don’t know how much that matters here. This show does have Sarah Michelle Gellar, who I adore, so it’s bought itself a couple of episodes to find its footing before I would drop the axe.

Episode Grade: C+

6) Madoff (Netflix)

English Audio Description?: Yes

This show actually has excellent audio description, as you almost always know who is speaking. in the second episode, we learn more about Bernie’s schemes, but also the structure of his company, and the various employees that played roles in this scandal.

Episode Grade: B

5) 1923 (Paramount Plus)

English Audio Description: Yes

While Helen Mirren, Harrison Ford, and Timothy Dalton do some good work, this show is not doing a great job at establishing the ensemble. It’s not quite Yellowstone, or 1883. It’s a lot slower. However, even though i knew Luca clearly had “consumption”, the boat stuff in this episode was entertaining. I still want more from this series. It’s a tad slow.

Episode Grade: B

4) Your honor (Paramount Plus)

English Audio Description?: No

Some fantastic acting from hope Davis in Chapter 13, as well as the rest of the regular cast. It still needs audio description though. There are many little things I feel like I’m missing.

Episode Grade: A-

3) 911 lone Star (FOX/Hulu)

English Audio Description?: No

Strand finds himself torn between two worlds. honestly, there were some quiet segments here where I had no idea what was going on. It’s a fun show normally, but this runs the same problem as Your honor. It edged it out for that whole sequence where they tried to save a sex doll just to help a man through his therapy.

Episode Grade: A-

2) South Park (Comedy)

English Audio Description?: No

First episode back, and i feel like Parker and Stone wished they had been able to talk about this stuff sooner. They kind of went for the Kanye drama, but that has died down a bit, so it felt a little less pressing. but, hilarious as always.

Episode Grade: A

1) The Traitors (Peacock)

English Audio Description?: Yes

It’s been a long time since I invested in a new reality show. I think the last one was The masked Singer. They just aren’t my thing. But this show, is really well put together, edited, and cast. plus, Alan Cumming. Other reality shows just don’t have Alan Cumming.

Episode Grade: A
