The Too Much TV Roundup- 04/22/23

I’m almost to a large break in my schedule, where I plan on dropping a bunch of reviews I know I’m behind on. Be afraid.

5) night Court (Peacock)

English Audio Description?: Yes

This episode about wedding planning was a little funnier. I got some chuckles in there. This show really does need to be more consistent though.

Episode Grade: B-

4) The Legend of Vox Machina (Amazon)

English Audio Description?: Yes

Somehow, we got way more than 10 episodes this season, and it feels like we are really stretching this season out. There was a peak to this season, but i don’t think it’s peaking at the end like I’m sure it wanted to.

Episode Grade: B

3) History Of The World Part 2 (Hulu)

English audio Description?: yes

I’ll give credit where its due. The moment in the 4th episode that was very self referential about hulu, and whether or not we pay to eliminate commercial breaks, was a solid joke.

Episode Grade: B

2) The Traitors: Australia (Peacock)

English Audio Description?: no

Sadly, Peacock didn’t invest in Australian Audio Description. This version features 24 people in a hotel. None of them seem to have been on a reality show before, as none of them are talking about it. One dude used to be a hostage, so that’s pretty freaking intense. The first round table was so profoundly stupid, as were some of the contestants in their manipulations, that it’s not as fun. America just does reality TV better. One of the Traitors literally ends up on the radar, because one of the faithful says some other dude (who is not a traitor) asked her who they were eliminating tonight, and then people thought he might have been mistaken and it was supposed to be this other girl who looks like her (who is a traitor). Except, they were told explicitly at that point that the traitors hadn’t met, and had just been chosen. So, this version lacks audio description, has a much dumber cast, and feels less fun because of it.

Episode Grade: B+

1) Star Trek Picard (PAramount Plus)

English Audio Description?: Yes

First time this show has topped a list this season. And it did so with a solid performance from Brent Spiner, and also Levar Burton. Season 3 is like the Next Generation closure that fans felt like they never got. And the scenes between Jordy and whatever you want to call Data now, were really strong.

Episode Grade: A-
