The Too Much TV Roundup- 10/21/23

I almost finished a fifth show, but it will have to wait until tomorrow, so another short list for you this day. Also, Fran Drescher wrote a guest column for Deadline.com that is worth a read if you’re interested in hearing from the horses mouth about the Actor’s strike. She’s actually not exaggerating when she says their profession is at risk. The proposed AI rules from the studios, allowing them to scan and own the likeness of talent in perpetuity, could have eliminated most of SAG within just a few years. It’s sad to know that 84% of SAG makes less than 26K a year.

I have no idea what these monsters are. I feel like this is a part of some larger franchise I should have watched first, and I’m trying to catch up. The second episode was about where the first was for me.Tonally, a weird show. I guess kids like this?

This reboot is still fun, and that’s what the episode was about as Buster has to choose to have fun in order to win their version of football, while Hampton learns to choose, and Babs and Plucky try not to fail Daffy’s course on falling anvils.

Episode Grade: B

2) Foundation (Apple Plus)

I wish I hadn’t seen the flash forward, otherwise the episode was solid. Everything comes crashing down in the season finale, but the time jump is troubling to say the least.

Episode Grade: B+

Seriously. This is TV-14. The cliffhanger for this episode is one of the kids exploding. So, TV-14. But for most of the episode we are doing a variation on The haunted Mask, which mostly worked. The adults in the show are clueless as as hell, but then again so are the kids. I wonder if this plot is something that carries into a second season, or if they’ll keep the kids with a new mystery. I’m intrigued to see how this lasts more than one season.
