While TV season production starts are lining up, it’s important to still note when a network has abandoned ship. So, RIP to Praise Petey on Freeform. We hardly knew ye. Also, all the drama around the bizarre death of Coyote Vs Acme has led to Warner Bros supposedly screening the movie for other distributors. Who do I think should pick it up? Aside from the humorous potential of having a Looney Tunes movie released by Disney, I’m gonna have to say Tubi. It’s a free streaming service, and a lot of their originals are lower budgeted indies. Should they be able to buy up something like this, it could be an attempt at potentially something bigger for them. plus, unlike Roku, they are making an effort at audio description. Roku thought it would be OK to release Weird without audio description.
6) Neón (Netflix)
English Audio Description?: Yes
Status: Not Yet Renewed
This show is slowly starting to come into its own, and also start to take some more chances comedically in the second episode. The first episode, i wasn’t sure what this show wanted to be, but the second episode starts building on the relationships and dynamics of the first episode. I will say that for longevity, I feel like the target demo for this show actually goes out and does things, and isn’t looking for a random low profile Netflix show about their scene. So I’m still not sure who this show is for.

5) Chucky (Peacock)
English Audio Description?: Yes
Status: On break in the middle of Season 3.
Not that I expect Chucky films or shows to ever make total sense, but by this point in Season 2, I think we’re doing so much, it is actually starting to hinder the quality of the show. We find Andy is being held captive by General Chucky, who is slowly cutting away at Andy and eating him? Though, it’s been a year, and there seems to be enough of him left to rescue, and he seems fairly normal by the end of the episode. Isn’t this guy missing chunks of his body? We have a crazed nun who worships Chucky, and a psychiatrist who worships Chucky, various versions of him between hulk Chucky and General Chucky and Good Chucky, and it’s all just a lot. Then, while I always assumed she’d die, Nadine is killed by Good Chucky. I never thought Good Chucky would stay a thing, but if there is a dark side still in there, fighting this good as the ending would suggest, Nadine would ahve been the least likely kill, since she seems to be the one Good Chucky likes. I love the absurdity of the show, but it seems like we’re treading into grabbing random food from the kitchen and blending it together to see what works. And sometimes, Fruit Loops, Lima Beans, Coffee Beans, Baking Soda, and French Dressing doesn’t make for a good idea.

4) Billions (Paramount Plus)
English Audio Description?: Yes
Status: Final Season
After having to catch up with Season 5, I’m just starting the final season.Of course, Chuck is being Chuck again. I love how Wendy talks about the most dangerous thing is a man who never beilives he’s wrong, when referring to Mike prince, but that’s totally applicable to Chuck. He refuses to believe that Dave has a plan, so he makes his own. The leap to reaching out to Axe was a bit far fetched, and seeing him return at the end of the season premiere felt less impactful. However, I’m interested to see where this goes, and since they announced plans to do spinoffs, I’m still holding out hope that Taylor finally gets their own company.

3) The Other Black Girl (Hulu)
English Audio Description?: Yes
Status: unknown
I am digging the vibe of the show, even if I have no idea what genre this show wants to be. I feel like this show could get really dark really fast. but, in Episode 4, Hazel basically attempts to come between friends, and a famous author returns.

2) Last Week Tonight (MAX)
English Audio Description?: No
Status: Renewed?
While I appreciate John attempting to give basically the whole episode to the Israel Palestine conflict, and i did learn and was introduced to different concepts that i was unaware of, it’s hard to summarize this conflict into a half hour show (which this even overran by about ten minutes). There’s so much here, history reaching back decades, that to really have a geopolitical opinion on this is hard to do in just a short show like this. however, Oliver carefully chose moments that seemed like universally we could all agree on things. For example, the Representative who said all Palestinians were terrorists. Even the kids? Really? It’s the moments like that, where Oliver found common ground obvious choices and made us aware of them that made this work.

The season finale that saw the release of the woods, and a big battle, plus another set of cameos from The Boys cast. I wasn’t crazy about how the action was building, and then something happened, and we kinda jumped forward in time with no context or resolution until next season. Also, I think it would have made more sense for The Woods to have been harboring supes with not necessarily useful powers, instead of total badasses you would think they would be trying to train. When we were presented with Sam, he was broken and seeing things that weren’t there, and this episode just didn’t do a good job of making us think that there were people like him down there.
