TV Shows Watched: The institute: S1E7 (MGM Plus) with audio description, Twisted Metal: S1E5 (Peacock) with audio description, Dexter: Resurrection: S1E7 (Paramount Plus) with audio description, The Twisted Tale of Amanda Knox: S1E2 (Hulu) with audio description, Long Story Short: S1E2 (Netflix) with audio description
The institute- You think you know what I’m about to say, but you’re like the guy who has the elephant by the tail. Or whatever that analogy was. The institute did just get a second season renewal at MGM Plus, so expect more mystery. The audio description is… well… fine? I mean, two people got shot in this episode, and for a Stephen King adaptation, their deaths were very PG-13. Especially the shotgun death. I feel like maybe that had more gore to it? But then again, maybe not? It’s weird because I thought the previous deaths were handled well. Maybe these were boring gunshots. Avery’s time in the tank was done well, so I don’t know.
Twisted Metal- All the racers convene, but only a few will get to be in the final race, so now they all have to carry a package from one destination to another without dying. I’m only certain three characters aren’t dying, John, Quiet, and Sweet Tooth. They’re basically the show. The jokes around Raven were funny, about how there are a bunch of Ravens (because they didn’t bring back neve Campbell), and they’re all hot… like Gremlins. The Audio Description makes me sad. But then again, I’m beating a dead horse.
Dexter: Resurrection- Dexter deals with a lot in this episode, managing to rid the world of one more threat, be supportive to his son, and deal with the return of Batista. Since they’re already staffing the Season 2 writers room, which was revealed when Paramount revoked the renewal from original Sin, they’re obviously not revoking the resurrection of Dexter, so what does this mean for Batista? Solid AD from DVW and paula Hoffman.
The Twisted Tale of Amanda Knox- I feel like I’m learning so much, and also… Italians are pricks. Like, she has a full interview with the cops with no interpreter or legal council, and they use her broken interpretation of their language as a confession. What nonsense. This show is like a cautionary tale of traveling to Italy.
Long Story Short- Same family, still doing incredibly relatable things like with King Of The hill. if you like King Of The Hill, and prefer your adult animation to feel more grounded, this is exactly what you’ve been waiting for. Liz Gutman and IDC are doing some nice description on this as well, considering there’s quite a bit of dialogue.
