This diary is for yesterday, which I didn’t watch as much TV as usual. The day I’m writing this on is my birthday, and I got pulled to a filling Olive Garden lunch yesterday, which took a nice chunk, as did the nap after. I’ll give you a prize though, as Amazon has renewed Every Summer After for a second season, and I didn’t even need to start watching it yet. Meanwhile, Amazon hasn’t picked up Spider-Noir. Go figure.
Since it is my birthday, today, not yesterday, I just wanted to thank everyone who has supported me along the way thus far. My site traffic keeps going up, even if these Diaries remain stagnant for a handful of interested parties, and I’ve grown my presence on YouTube to over 2K subscribers. It’s putting a blind person out there talking about film, hopefully encouraging others to do so. Our Blind Film Critics Society is always open to more blind and low vision audio description film lovers who publiclay discuss film for everyone to see. I think it is important, still, even if I don’t always do as best as I can in every post. Truthfully, I’ve been on computers and video games my whole life, then came cell phones, and even in my 40’s, my hands are feeling it. I’m trying to use dictation more since AI has made it smarter, but I don’t want to overuse my hands because they feel it. But, this is what I do.
No idea what I’ll be saying a year from now. This next year has some paths laid out for me I’d rather not travel, and simply still standing a year from now will be rewarding in and of itself.
But, thanks for reading, and here’s the small list:
TV Shows Watched: Legends: S1E4 (Netflix) with audio description, Maximum Pleasure Guaranteed: S1E4 (Apple) with audio description, Has Been Hotel: Live (Amazon) no audio description, The Lincoln Lawyer: S4E9 (Netflix) with audio description
Legends- It was going to be hard to come off that crazy tense last episode, with the gang rushing to get the family out of the house, and this episode didn’t quite have the same pace. There’s still a sense of urgency, but not quite the same. This UK audio description track had me though. I did not realize, or remember, that the Brits pronounce Urinal that way.You learn something new every day.
Maximum Pleasure Guaranteed- As the killer moves closer to Paula, we see that the deck is starting to be stacked against her. She may have to move to Idaho, and honestly, if she did, it wouldn’t be the worst thing right now.Her life as she knows it is super weird since her friends did a deep dive into her laptop and learned everything about her cam boy, and someone is trying to kill her, so moving should be on the table.
Has Been Hotel- I noticed even though I finished Season 2 a while back, it didn’t leave my continue watching, and that’s because it wanted me to watch HAs Been Hotel Live, which was like 45 minutes with no audio description. It’s a concert version, where cast members come out and sing songs from the show for fans, and I wish it was more. Amazon didn’t feel like describing it, and it really is just people coming out and singing, and then welcoming the next cast member. Unless there’s a set, or they’re in costume, I’m not sure I missed much. A fully staged show, I’d be upset if they didn’t describe it.
The Lincoln Lawyer- Mickey almost has it all figured out, but that twist ending makes it look like he’s in trouble. He isn’t. Netflix picked this up for another season. Roy Samuelson does the audio description, and it has been great all season long.
