The Small Screen Diaries: 07/09/26

TV Shows Watched: Legends: S1E5 (Netflix) with audio description, Solar Opposites: S6E6 (Disney Plus) with audio description, Ghosts: S5E10 (Paramount) with audio description, Star City: S1E4 (Apple) with audio description, The Comeback: S1E11 (HBO MAX) with audio description, Strip Law: S1E? (Netflix), and Little House On The Prairie: S1E1 (Netflix) with audio description.

Legends- Kate figures out who the corrupt cop is while things get crazy in Pakistan. It has proven interesting enough to hold my attention, but there are better shows in this vein. The AD is OK. Very British.

Solar Opposites- Almost done with one of my favorite shows. Terry wishes his relationship had started with a meet cute, and things get really silly from there. Love this show and the AD is perfect. I think this is still my favorite thing Dave Wallace has done.

Ghosts- I let it slip since it was already renewed for Season 6, and I’m playing catch-up. This was part two of the Christmas episode, cleverly titled A Christmas Carol. Very funny. Solid audio description by Media Access as usual, especially given the size of the ensemble and format.

Star City- I wish it felt more like For All Mankind. The AD is fine. This is not a space race drama.

The Comeback- The show gets nominated for a People’s Choice. Hilarity ensues. Worst AD of the day.

Strip Law- This episode was nonsense. Netflix cancelled the show. The AD is pretty good by IDC.

Little House On The Prairie- Roy Samuelson is doing the AD for this cheesy remake, where I laughed more than I should. Terrible writing. This should be Taylor Sheridan, and I don’t say that lightly. In a hilarious turn of events, VSI does the AD, and while Roy is great, I can’t get over the irony that VSI won the Lincoln Lawyer contract for Season 4 because the previous team failed to translate Spanish dialogue into AD that was subtitled. Here, VSI fails to bring the indigenous dialogue to the description, and it is subtitled. The next show Netflix is working on with VSI is called “pot and Kttle”. It should be.
