The Small Screen Diaries- 02/13/24

Happy Valentine’s Day! For this Valentine’s I got you some TV News to start your day. Apple has renewed Invasion for a 3rd season, while Netflix has picked up Survival Of The Thickest for a second season. The latter of the two took way too long, and must have come down to a budgeting wire. I am shockingly still with Boy Swallows The Universe (Netflix), which is actually better once you get past the pilot. Still, it’s a very odd show, but the 4th episode continues with the boys trying to adapt to living with their estranged alcoholic father, wanting … Continue reading The Small Screen Diaries- 02/13/24

The Too Much TV Roundup- 11/21/23

Well, I said, and I’ll say it again, the post-strike cancellation wave is still bashing us. It likely will take a break for Turkey Day, but not before Disney Plus could axe The Muppets Mayhem. In fact, on the film side, rumor has it that they are trying to sell off The Bike Riders. Not sure why, as that played fairly well at the festivals, but whatever. in other cancellation news, Melissa Barrera was fired from the new Scream 7 for having the audacity to tweet. No apologies required, the Scream franchise has so many surviving characters alive right now, … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- 11/21/23

The Too Much TV Roundup- 11/16/23

I’m not feeling the Pedro Pascal casting as Reed Richards, only because I was really hoping for John Krasinski.I know Pascal is hot right now, with The Last Of Us and The Mandalorian, so it makes sense. but Emily Blunt could have played Invisible Girl, and we know Krasinski can write/direct. Just saying. 1) Shelter (Amazon) English Audio Description?: Yes Status: Not Yet Renewed Well, that was a doozie of a finale. I think this show was always all over the place, until it actually started trying to tie everything together. I’ve yet to see a Harlan show make a … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- 11/16/23

The Too Much TV Roundup- 11/07/23 Dancing last night. Also, I hear we are shockingly close to a SAG deal as the studios have apparently given up on their AI battle.

11) Seaquest DSV (Peacock) English Audio Description?: No Status: Ended I think I’ve given a few episodes a pass, as it is a bit easier being on a rewatch. but this episode focused quite a bit on a ghost ship, a diary, and possession? I’ll admit, when you throw ghosts and what I can assume was possession in the mix, it goes a little past being easy to just follow along. Episode Grade: unwatchable 10) 911 (Hulu) English Audio Description?: no Status: Moving To ABC Athena is on the hunt for who killed a neighbor that everyone hated, while her … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- 11/07/23 Dancing last night. The Too Much TV Roundup- 11/01/23

The fact that I’m hearing that the SAG AMPTA negotiations are being held up over AI really tells me all I need to know about the studios positions. I do hope SAG does not waiver on their counter to many of the terrible ideas these studios were proposing, including owning an actors likeness in perpetuity, simply because they showed up as an extra for one day. People say that AI is the future, and there’s nothing we can do to stop it. If we don’t regulate it now, that same person is going to have their face regenerated into a … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- 11/01/23

The Super Mario Bros Movie

Where I Watched It: Peacock English Audio Description Provided By The Media Access Group Narrated By Leilani Jones Wilmore Wahoo! For all of us gamers who can claim to be among the first, fan service is headed our direction. Sure, there have been video game adaptations, but they typically suck. And for a lot of people who have wanted some of these legacy franchises like The Legend Of Zelda adapted somewhere. Now with the critical success of The Last Of Us on television, it could be even on TV. But, Illumination took the horns of Bowser and rode Nintendo’s flagship … Continue reading The Super Mario Bros Movie

Spin Me Round

Where I Watched It: iTunes English Audio Description?: No To be fair, this is also available on AMC Plus without audio description, so I could have watched it in either place. I can’t remember why I chose to rent it. it was probably on sale. In factI crammed so many movies into my Christmas break, some of them I’m struggling to even remember coherently at a level where I can fully critique them. i do know that I wanted to see this because I love Alison Brie, and fully support her film career. The plot was basically involving a girl … Continue reading Spin Me Round

The Bubble

Directed By: Judd Apatow Where I Watched It: Netflix English Audio Description Available?: Yes The Plot: Set during the pandemic, a film crew and the actors involved try and complete the filming on the 6th film in a ridiculous franchise, and satire ensues. What Works: There were a lot of people who didn’t like Don’t Look up, and that got a nomination for Best Picture. The thing about satire is that it is really hard, and almost never done correctly. That’s … Continue reading The Bubble
