Jackpot

I realize the expectation you have is that you have come here to hear me once again lament another misguided and mismanaged straight-to-streaming title, and I forgive you. These streamers, especially with the resurgence of the box office, are sending almost everything with a pulse to theatres. However, every once in a while one of these films just works for me. I’m not claiming this is some deep celluloid wonder that will be dissected in film schools for years to come. It was just fun. Jackpot is exactly the kind of film we should be having during the summer. It … Continue reading Jackpot

Ricky Stanicky

Peter Farrelly returns to his comedy roots with this Amazon original that is sure to leave you feeling like this was, in fact, a movie that you just watched. There will be no doubt, you just sat through a film, and not anything else. A funny film though? Well, comedy is often subjective. Lots of people are really into Tom Green. I’m not. But, for those people, they think he’s funny. Someone out there will find this hilarious. The plot centers around a group of kids who get into trouble, and make up a fake friend who is to blame … Continue reading Ricky Stanicky

Freelance

John cena stars in a film that seemed to just skip right over theatres. He’s lost theatrical privileges I suppose. He also apparently has lost audio description as well, but maybe that’s just because this is on Hulu. Hulu be Hulu. So, no audio description and a straight to streaming john Cena film? Why am i reviewing it? To remind the world that we do still deserve to have accessibility. I should be able to watch crappy John Cena films with audio description just like sighted people can put on whatever they want. However, this film is primarily an action … Continue reading Freelance

Fast X

Where I Watched It: In The Family Room on Peacock English Audio Description?: Yes, Family May Enjoy Audio Description Family. I’m pretty sure when The Fast and the Furious was a surprise hit in 2001, a sequel was presumed. but we are now on the 10th film in this long running family franchise, and it has grown in size as to be able to maximize the family members on screen. The amount of people in this film is so ridiculous that after the movie ends, and the credits start to list the various family members, when we start to wind … Continue reading Fast X

Vacation Friends 2

Where I Watched it: Hulu English Audio Description?: Yes I know when I watched the first Vacation Friends i should have assumed they would make a sequel. After all, there are three hangover movies, but then again, only one Girls Trip. Sometimes, restraint is practiced, and a sequel does not occur. I didn’t hate the first Vacation Friends. I’d put it about on par with the Hangover sequels. It had its moments. This sequel? It’s terrible. The film almost works. It promises to put our two odd couples back together for a vacation, but then it introduces Steve Buscemi, and … Continue reading Vacation Friends 2

Hidden Strike

Where I Watched It: Netflix English Audio Description?: Yes When I saw the #1 movie on Netflix was a 2023 release starrring Jackie Chan and John Cena, my interest was tantalized ever so slightly. I couldn’t remember the last time I saw Jackie Chan in something, and I’ve been pretty happy with the trajectory of Cena’s career. He really seems to understand the joke, and he seems pretty up for anything. If you question that, watch Blockers. I wasn’t really thinking that this would be a Chinese production, but it’s fairly well executed, considering I’m really not familiar with too … Continue reading Hidden Strike

The Independent

Where I Watched it: Peacock English Audio Description?: Yes I should probably say that the answer to the question of “Who is your favorite actor?” For me is Brian Cox. I always think it’s important to be able to honestly address bias, because I walk into any Brian Cox film thinking I’m about to watch a genius at work. I’ve loved this man forever. I’d marry him if he could just promise to randomly perform Shakespeare in his Scottish accent every day. He’s a national, no, international treasure and it’s a crime that he’s not an Oscar nominee for a … Continue reading The Independent

The too Much TV Roundup

A day late and a dollar short. Changing up the format a bit. Previously, I just ran down the streaming services and picked a show. Now, I’ll just be doing the top 10 programs that hit me one way or the other in the last 7 days. Remember, I don’t binge watch. So, some of these might be a bit old, and you might already be done, or even behind where I’m at. Thanks to peak tV. 1) The Walking Dead (AMC/AMC Plus) English Audio Description Available?: Frustratingly, no. It’s always bothered me that this show doesn’t feature audio description … Continue reading The too Much TV Roundup

The Too Much TV Roundup

With all of the many platforms we have to watch television programs, from regular networks, to cable and premium channels, and a wide array of streaming channels, there has never been this much TV created for our own enjoyment. Starting this week, I plan to offer a glimpse into some of the shows I’m checking out, good or bad. I do not binge shows, so I might not be fully through a show whose entire season dropped at one point, and thanks to the tons of programs I do watch, I might “be behind”. I am watching a lot of … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup
