Wicked

Wicked- An Adaptation That Does More Than Defy Gravity Quick Take: I’m this far behind. I’m just now at the point where I can review Wicked, which I put a review out for easily over a month ago on my YouTube channel. Universal made a point of getting me a screener for this, and I was delighted. I did not make the journey to the cinema for this, as that time of year was just far too busy. Then, here comes the screener for my consideration, and I’m delighted. I was never worried about Ariana Grande. I think Cynthia Erivo … Continue reading Wicked

She Came To me

I’ve been having thoughts about what I can do to contribute to the discussion of film, but more importantly from a blind perspective. I expressed a lot of frustrations about Godzilla minus one being allowed to be submitted for Oscar consideration without being accessible. Even if the Acadmey made exceptions for certain categories, like International or the Short Film categories, there’s no reason to exempt a movie being considered for visual effects. If anything, that’s the category that should be required, otherwise any blind or low vision Oscar voters are at a disadvantage. Not to mention, the general population. So … Continue reading She Came To me

Unfrosted

Some years ago, admittedly a little hard to remember since I’m not sure the film ever got a real theatrical release, a film called Food Fight existed, and used a lot of these mascot type characters. I’ve seen a lot of negative reviews of Unfrosted, and my sentence as a film judge is that all critics who thought this was bad need to also see Food Fight, because this kinda thing can be a lot worse. When i saw it, it was just freely on YouTube because no one cared about Food Fight. Unfrosted is Jerry Seinfeld’s love letter to … Continue reading Unfrosted

The Ballad of Songbirds And Snakes

Young adult or not, I really enjoyed The Hunger Games franchise. I actually read the books before watching the movies, and it is one of those odd franchises where I didn’t hate all the changes. yes, I could get really nit picky especially around characters totally left out of the books, but some of the aspects that were changed made sense. If you’ve only seen the films, for example, when it is just down to the final three in the first book, the game unleashes these human/wolf hybrids using the reanimated corpses of the fallen child tributes. I’d imagine that … Continue reading The Ballad of Songbirds And Snakes

It looks like also that the show Good Trouble has come to an end. I saw some cast reactions. And, Golden Globe nominations are announced tomorrow morning I do believe. It should be more interesting now that the awards are owned by a different body, and categories were expanded. 1) Sex Education (Netflix) English Audio Description?: Yes Status: Final Season Maeve’s Mom’s funeral day is punctuated by other events, including her strained relationship with Otis, who is also having a strained relationship with Eric, who may or may not be communicating with God. Also, Ruby has had about enough of … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- 12/09/23

Well, looks like Jenna Ortega is unable to film Scream 7 due to Wednesday, so the world just became a lot less interested in a 7th entry… unless they pay up to reunite Nevé Campbell with her franchise. Maybe even Patrick Dempsey? Just a thought. Also, a Happy Thanksgiving to yours today. Enjoy all the food. However you eat, may it be plentiful and delicious. 1) The Witcher (Netflix) English Audio Description?: Yes Status: Renewed It’s hard to tell exactly what the plans are for the next season without Henry Cavill, but they seem to be turning Siri into her … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- 11/22/23

While it does seem like SAG is taking this latest offer seriously, they do have some things to iron out, and they’re planning another meeting. Meanwhile, it took until November for Hulu to renew The Bear. Why? Are they that hard up? The series is projected to win Emmy’s this year for the streamer. They literally can’t afford to lose the show, not with Handmaid’s Tale going into its final season. Their only other prestige show would be Only Murders In The Building. 10) How To Become A Cult Leader (Netflix) English Audio Description?: Yes Status: Limited In the fifth … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- 11/06/23

Looks like iCarly is going away again as paramount Plus has axed the reboot after 3 seasons. Since this was a Nickelodeon show (which is a Paramount station), the chances of this moving anywhere are non existent. 8) Adventure Time (MAX) English Audio Description?: No Status: Ended I think perhaps I would have preferred audio description so i could follow the episode. I think I realized when they wer talking to a watermelon that I have not fully grasped this show yet. Episode Grade: B- 7) The Masked Singer (Hulu) English Audio Description?: No Status: Unknown I would like audio … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- 10/05/23

Disney and Charter have kinda sorta figured their stuff out. So, Football fans probably enjoyed last nights game. 11) The Masked Singer (Hulu) English Audio Description?: No Status: Presumably Renewed I really wish that this show had audio description. I’ve never really gotten an idea of these elaborate costumes. It would also help with the visual cues in the clue packages the judges don’t immediately say out loud. That being said, while my ears didn’t direct me to the person, the second clue package they gave was so obvious. This was such a disappointing episode, because their idea of best performances … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- 09/11/23
