So, SAG is on strike. It’s a great time to catch up on a show, since most of the shows haven’t been shooting, and now even more of them won’t be. I always enjoy being able to drop some TV knowledge at the top. Freeform has cancelled The Watchful Eye and Single Drunk Female. Neither one of these had audio description. After The Other Two dropped their big bomb yesterday, Reservation Dogs followed them with the exact same announcement, that the 3rd season will be it’s last. I remember when most shows wanted to hit season 4 because it put syndication into play, but with shows no longer running 22 episode seasons, there’s no need for that. Reservation Dogs would need nine seasons to get to that point. Also, ABC is sticking with Home Economics a little bit longer. The Too Much TV Roundup- 06/26/23

Paramount Plus is purging again. This time, I won’t be burned by saying everything has already been removed. The biggest cancellation/removal is Inside Amy Schumer. The rest are some documentaries, Paramount Plus original movies (Snow Day and Fantasy Football), and a bunch of Nickelodeon shows, only two of which I had even heard of. Today, i plan on attending a virtual conference held by the ACB and the Audio Description project, in which I will get to hear representatives from streaming services talk about their commitment to Audio Description. FOX has given a second season to the comedy Animal Control. Also, Disney is planning on merging Hulu into Disney Plus by the end of the year, and is currently in negotiations to buy out Comcast on their remaining shares. I can’t claim a shortage of good news today. The WGA voted finally to go on strike, which is officially happening right now. That means all guild writers, which is most of Hollywood, have ceased working on their projects. This affects shows with quick turnover rates first, like late night talk and variety shows. So until this strike is over, expect Colbert, Meyers, Fallon, Kimmel, and others to be reruns. This also likely ended Saturday Night Live’s season, unless a deal is reached soon.
