The Too Much TV Roundup- 10/06/23

John Stark

I don’t know how I missed the drama, but Starz apparently cancelled Heels, and almost immediately removed the show from its service. There was a notable campaign on Twitter to shame Starz for cancelling the series. honestly, with Outlander in its final season, if they don’t start figuring out their programming, they’ll be the Power network, and it’ll be hard to get people attracted to new shows who aren’t watching Power spinoffs. 11) Justified (Hulu) English Audio Description?: No Status: Ended People get shot at in this episode, and it’s tough to figure out who and when, since there’s no … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- 10/06/23

Welcome to Spooky Season, where I will be stepping up your coverage of the scariest and spookiest films to watch this season. But for today, it’s just a regular old roundup. 14) The Continental (Peacock) English Audio Description?: Yes Status: Limited From the minds of people who never watched the original John Wick franchise comes a boring show with little to no action sequences and more dialogue in one episode than in the entire John Wick universe. I hate this show. Episode Grade: D+ 13) The Summer I Turned Pretty (Amazon) English Audio Description?: Yes Status: Renewed I’m not really … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- 09/30/23

I’m getting a little tired of renewals not meaning anything anymore. Peacock has reversed its decision on a second season of Bumper In Berlin. Why even bother with renewals? Why lie to fans if your plan is to just piss them off later on by yanking the show away? It’s not like Peacock has a ton of hit original programming. 10) Desperate Housewives (Hulu) English Audio Description?: No Status: Ended This sprawling cast is down by one as the show opens with a character death. Not a major character. I’m not even truly certain I grasped who the character was, … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- 09/22/23

As I told you several times during my watching of the now final season of The Wonder Years, summer burn offs are never a good sign. ABC has officially cancelled the reboot after two seasons. Home Economics remains in limbo due to the strike, as ABC has extended the options on the cast. 11) Desperate Housewives (Hulu) English Audio Description?: No Status: Ended I just find this show really difficult to follow without audio description. It has such a large cast and a lot going on. It likely is affecting how I’m enjoying the show, as I feel like I’m … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup-09/15/23

I wonder what social media is going to do to all the actors who wrote in letters of support for Danny Masterson. It’s not a great look right now for several of his former cast mates, as well as some random names like Giovanni Ribisi and Jonathan Tucker. i think what is truly telling is that not all of the cast did write letters. Topher Grace, Laura Prepon, and Wilmer Valderrama apparently had better sense. 10) Justified (Hulu) English Audio Description?: No Status: Revival Recently Ended Season 3 finale. While there are always developments in the season finale, like the … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- 09/08/23

Hulu is on a cancellation spree. After axing The Great, the drop came for How I Met Your Father which has been cancelled after two seasons. 12) Designing Women (Hulu) English Audio Description?: No Status: Ended In Anthony Jr., Anthony is told he has a son. Oddly enough, until now, I thought his character was gay. Or, at least the equivalent of the time period when having gay characters on TV meant they never really talked about it. Also, what actually happened to Delta Burke’s career? I feel like she should have had more sitcoms after this, and all I … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- 09/02/23

Disney Plus pulled the plug on The Spiderwick Chronicles TV show. It’s like, they say they want shows beyond just Marvel and Star Wars, but after cancelling Doogie yesterday, and not moving forward with this… do they? What is the actual plan here to not just fill your streaming service with franchise extensions from those two universes? Hell, I haven’t even heard if there will be a second season of Monsters At Work, which really felt like a no brainer. 13) Designing Women (Hulu) English Audio Description?: No Status: Ended you know when Anthony, who is usually just there for … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup-08/26/23

The Too Much TV Roundup- August 29th

John Stark

Welcome to a shorter list yet again. Can you tell that my work is a bit busier? That’s what these shorter lists lead to. 1) House Of The Dragon (HBO/HBOMAX) English Audio Description Available?: Yes Despite a strong showing this day from… well… nothing else, Hosue of The Dragon slayed again. This is a show that is structured and written well enough to restore faith, much like Better Call Saul that Prequels are sometimes the way to go, instead of a spinoff or a sequel. I know we all wanted an Arya Stark series, but this show is still creating … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- August 29th

i squeezed some shit in today just for you. Yes, you. You are special. 1) House Of The Dragon (HBo/HBO MAX) English Audio Description?: Yes I could do with a dial back on the campaign for this show, as I thought the pilot spoke for itself. It featured a great way to introduce us to characters we don’t know, in a world we are familiar with, make us care about them, show us who the major players are, and give us that Game of Thrones dread where anyone can die at anytime. Perfectly executed with lots of heart and tons … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- August 22nd

The Too Much TV Roundup- August 15th

John Stark

I can’t believe it’s already the halfway point of August. With some shows finished last week, the rankings should start shaking up a bit. We’ve got a new first timer on top. 1) The Sandman (Netflix) English Audio Description?: Yes I didn’t think that the pilot did enough to explore the universe, and just exactly who Dream was. It felt, in retrospect, like a preface, and the story starts in Episode 2. There’s a tremendous shift in focus, and Dreams really does take center stage in his own story. The audio description here is working overtime, as almost nothing in … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- August 15th

The start of a new week, and Amazon is being mean and reminding me there was still one more episode of Night Sky, after I finished it last week and it temporarily disappeared from my queue. I now see that Undone is still there, after going away, which perplexes me because I it really do not know where that story would have gone after that ending. That was a true finale ending if there ever was one. What the hell, Amazon? Stop temporarily disappearing shit from my queue. This wasn’t a problem before the redesign. 1) Night Sky (Amazon) English … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- August 8th

Well, I had to squeeze Lightyear in here as well, so, 5 shows is it for this day. 1) Shining Girls (Apple Plus) English Audio Description?: Yes I cannot stress my love for this show. I was actually having moments in this 7th episode where I was so personally invested in fictitious characters that I was doing that whole “talking to them through the TV”. I really wanted Kirby to slap the shit out of Marcus. I mean, she went out on a limb and trusted this guy, who basically thinks she’s nuts and got her fired, and then tried … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- August 3rd

What are the chances I watched something awesome? 1) The Marvelous Ms maisel (Amazon) English Audio Description Available?: Yes It’s taken me a long road to get to the 7th episode of the season, so if you’ll excuse the spoiler here, but this episode nailed my top spot when all of Joel’s fears are realized when he tells his father about his new lady, and he appears to actually die from shock. Of course, it’s the last thing that happens at the end of the episode for a cliffhanger, but it made me slot it at the top. Also, Midge … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- July 26th

A new day brought some new shows to my list of currently watching programming. but were they any good, and did they make the top spot? 1( Rutherford Falls (Peacock) English Audio Description Available?: Yes When we last left this show, it looked like the town was about to turn into a living breathing tourist trap, with Nathan finding out he’s not really a Rutherford and driving off to parts unknown. It seems like he’s actually just been living in the attic “working on himself”, until he announces his reentry into society… at someone else’s birthday party.
