The Too Much TV Roundup- 02/08/23

Nine shows to rank today. Another one i think is biting the dust.

9) Paul T Goldman (Peacock)

English Audio Description?: Yes

I think it’s very possible for people to find enjoyment in this series, but I think it’s a curated portion of the population. I’m not in that population. Two episodes in, and I can see what they seem to want to be doing here, and it’s just not my thing.

Episode Grade: C

8) 8) Star Wars: The Bad Batch (Disney Plus)

English Audio Description?: Yes

I think that guy at the end learned a very important lesson about refusing to do something while being a member of the Empire. This isn’t really a dip for The Bad Batch, this is just about my general level of enjoyment. it’s not my favorite thing, but I keep up with it… because it is Star Wars.

Episode Grade: B-

7) Madoff (Netflix)

English Audio Description?: Yes

This new docuseries intends to give me a really hard deep dive into who Bernie Madoff really was. Based on the first episode, I did learn a lot that I didn’t already glean from previous news sources, however, i watched this with my mom, and she seemed to already know everything presented. So, maybe what you get out of this will depend on how informed you already were? I felt like she produced the series or something.

Episode Grade: B

6) Mayor Of Kings Town (Paramount Plus)

English Audio Description?: Yes

So, four gang leaders are all in Tent City, but we are still just focusing on Bunny, not how the dynamic would be changing. Also, was Dianne Wiest even in this episode? Taylor Sheridan, I don’t know if you know this or not, but she’s got an Oscar. Can you please write something for her character? When you win an oscar, you can pretend to sweep another Oscar winner under the rug, but until then, I want to see Dianne Wiest in every fucking episode. Thanks.

Episode Grade: B

5) The Legend of Vox Machina (Amazon)

English Audio Description?: Yes

The Second episode of the season is basically “learn something about yourself so that you can go on and fight at the next level”. I feel like it had to happen, but with the group a little divided, it just wasn’t my super favorite episode.

Episode Grade: B+

4) American Auto (NBC/Peacock)

English Audio Description?: Yes

The team is looking for a new celebrity endorsement after Kevin Costner backs out (I hear he’s been doing a lot of that recently). Definitely at least one laugh out loud moment was had, as one of the characters sought clarification as to if there was a specific rule about doing a specific something in the workplace.

Episode Grade: A-

3) Kaleidoscope (Netflix)

English Audio Description?: Yes

This was Blue. And, really the only reason that I’m ranking this third is that the kid playing the driver is so annoying. I can’t imagine a single criminal organization ever wanting him to be a getaway driver, even if he was an excellent driver. He’s too green, to an obnoxious result at times.

Episode Grade: A-

2) The Good Doctor (ABC/Hulu)

English Audio Description?: Yes

The storylines here were strong, as one had Lin working with the two doctors on probation. But, one of them had the fortitude to question whether or not the surgery was the right call, which worked out in their benefit. The other plot saw a 13 year old almost die from a tumor she got when a fertilized egg became a tumor, leading into conversations about age, and consent, with a lot of strong feelings from jordan. Oh, and I think Glassman might be staying with Sean and Leah for a bit. Sadly. Although, it sounds like he has a nice lawsuit on his hands.

Episode Grade: A

1) Doom Patrol (HBo MAX)

English Audio Description?: Yes

In what almost felt like a stand alone episode, our little girl that is slowly growing up thanks to the help of a loving and badass drag queen, is attacked by villains out of a comic book, so she wishes her favorite hero into existence to help her fight. I really am trying to explain this episode, but it is so absolutely bizarre that if you watched this stoned, your head would probably explode.

Episode Grade: A
