Black Mirror- A really solid episode about how decisions from our past come back to haunt us, because we all have a chip in our brain. So, one woman’s quest to protect her current family from the sins of her past leads her to some truly disturbing life choices, which all come full circle in the end, thanks to a witness she could have never seen coming. Andrea Riseborough stars, and this episode was great. A few little things that felt like they were forced to make the narrative work, but the narrative did work, and the audio description is great.

Platonic- Trigger Warning! Maybe? A character you don’t really know or care about loses an eye, which is a bit unexpected for this Seth Rogen comedy. But, since some of my readers are blind/low-vision, it’s possible that whole thing may not be quite as funny as it is played off to be.Otherwise, the episode was fine, and the audio description tries to get all the sight gags in. I thought this time, they did actually manage to get all of the gags in.

Butterfly- We see a bit of the past, as our present is dominated by what to do with Oliver, while even those who work above Juno question whether they can trust her as they believe Rebecca was given up as a scapegoat. Solid audio description. No complaints. I really enjoyed the flashback sequence, watching how our lead first realized it was an inside job.

Ginny and Georgia- Deja vu. Basically the same block of time, but now with a new lean on why certain things happened as they did. Some dialogue was repeated, which really threw me. i was like… didn’t I? But then, other beats I distinctly remembered were missing. I think this was just a clever way of showing another perspective. Again, no AD problems that I came across.

The Wonderfully Weird World of Gumball- I love the irreverence of this. The whole episode is about the principal being afraid to shake his butt. Seriously. And it has audio description. Great. My only complaint about this AD exists from the pilot, and even that is open for debate.

Hostage- Two episodes in, and maybe my least favorite track of the day? There is a chunk toward the end where the Prime Minister is making an address, and some people are talking (I assume). We got that from the AD, but it wasn’t translated like it was word for word, but summarized, like two people are talking about a thing, and I couldn’t hear the original language underneath if it was being dubbed. I quit Day Of THe Jackal over choices like this, so hostage is on notice. Although, Hostage is five episodes, which is exactly how long it took for Day of THe Jackal to drive me insane.

Say Something!
