TV Shows watched: Alien Earth: S1E5 (Hulu) with audio description, Wednesday: S2E5 (Netflix) with audio description, Butterfly: S1E5 (Amazon) with audio description, Twisted Metal: S2E6 (Peacock) with audio description, the Wonderfully Weird World of Gumball: S1E7 (Hulu) with audio description
Alien Earth- I think the wrong name was listed when the cyborg fist slammed down. It should have been Morrow, but I’m fairly certain it was one of the expendables. This episode featured a look at what happened to all those people we saw at the beginning of the series, flashing back to how shit hit the fan in the first place. All of these characters are so poorly written and lack intelligence and survival instincts, so I wonder how they ever captured these deadly parasites to begin with. Only Morrow seems capable, which is why he survived. The first episode I didn’t like of this series, because I did need some characters to root for, but Noah Hauley seemed to go the route of “they die anyway, so who cares”. I do. Write better characters.
Wednesday- Picking up where we left off, in a surprise to no one, Wednesday survived her fall and is recuperating. She gains her new spirit guide, and Tyler looms close to Nevermore. But, secrets continue to pile up! And Pugsley, easily my least favorite character, is still searching for Slurp, who might be an important character in the plot. the audio description was solid.
Butterfly- After letting *spoiler* go in the last episode, David and Rebecca monitor them and try and use them as bait, while also turning them against their target. The end of the episode doesn’t work out well for one of them, and David finds himself in a predicament. Solid audio description.
Twisted Metal- A surprising death at the beginning changes the course of the race. Basically, every character except one makes it to the finish line from last episode, except one I thought would survive. This episode gives Calypso a backstory, and sets up Twisted Metal (the name for the set of challenges that lies ahead). Everyone makes their wish, in case they win. Our milkman makes a wish though that I’m certain calypso can’t fill. My wish, should I win twisted Metal, was for better audio description. Now excuse me while I go beat a deceased equine.
The Wonderfully Weird World Of Gumball- this show is so bizarre, I like it. And the episodes aren’t too long. it feels like just the right amount, and these aren’t totally aimed at little kids either. it feels about the same age range as Bobs Burgers, as just a broadly funny and accessible show anyone could like. the audio description past the pilot is fine.
