TV Shows Watched: Vladimir: S1E9 (Netflix) with audio description, The Audacity: S1E3 (AMC Plus) with audio description, Half Man: S1E6 (HBO MAX) with audio description, Ted: S2E4 (Peacock) with audio description, Young Sherlock: S1E7 (Amazon) with audio description, Pop Culture Jeopardy: S2E6 (Netflix) with audio description, Virgin River: S7E7 (Netflix) with audio description, and The Four Seasons: S2E4 (Netflix) with audio description

Vladimir- Still making my way through this limited series about a professor whose presence and actions feel like a strong commentary on generational gaps in understanding, being afraid of conflict, consent, liberalism, and several other topics. And sex. She is really horny. The AD has been great.

The Audacity- Episode 2 didn’t have AD, but 3 does. This is a tech-bro comedy about an insufferable man whose company has a programmer that created a troubling, but profitable, algorithm. AMC Plus is slowly adding audio description. It isn’t that much yet, but I’m keeping my eye on it. Well…

Half Man- This troubling series comes to a rocky conclusion. I’m glad I saw it, I never need to see it again, and is one of the most uncomfortable shows to sit through, like Baby Reindeer was. But darker.There is no joy in Half Man, especially at the end. Thanks for the audio description though. This thing is getting Emmy nominations. I predict Richard Gad, Jamie Bell, and a series nod.

Ted- Seth Macfarlane just gets me. When Ted auditions for the play with the full original theme song to Disney’s The Adventures Of The Gummi Bears, I died. Such a wildly specific joke, and by God, it won me over. No notes. This was my childhood, and I wasn’t sure anyone else remembered that show. It is on Disney Plus, by the way, but no audio description because Disney hasn’t gotten to it yet. It’s slated for AD in 2089: The Year Hell Freezes Over.

Young Sherlock- Love this show. Great AD. The series is starting to get really twisty now that Sherlock’s parents are involved, and Mycroft seems close to something. Man, I hope Season 2 keeps the Holmes/Moriarty friendship going.

Pop Culture Jeopardy- See, a competent AD description team pays attention. So, at the end of final Jeopardy, someone got it wrong, and the AD actually explained what they wrote, because COlin commented on how close they got. It is a visual thing being properly brought to our ears.

Virgin River- Preacher now wants out of Jack’s, Hope now has to make nice with a man who might like her, Mel and Jack figure out what’s up with the new guy, and Bri finds Charmaine. But what happens next? It has the same very good audio description it has had for seven seasons.

The Four Seasons- For a comedy, it tries to pull out as much of the visual jokes and reactions as possible, even as The Four Seasons blends some serious stuff in. Kerry Kinney is great this season, and I can’t wait to see her in Fall/autumn.
