Detective Hole- Ummmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm. WOW. Let me pick my jaw off the floor. I’ve seen a lot of weird and disturbing shit on TV in the last year (most of it on Welcome To Dairy, where I’ll never think of a lampshade without shuddering again), but this Norwegian crime drama just hit number two with a bullet. I have questions, as to how much they actually showed, and it is really hard to NOT discuss it. As out of context as possible: A man gets his penis cut off, and then the person who is holding it is mentioned as still holding onto it, before… getting rid of it. DVW did the AD for this, and while it is TTS, there’s something even more unnerving about a neutral emotionless voice not reacting to this. I need therapy.

Criminal Record- Apple still hasn’t picked up this series, but man, what a finale. Yes, it wraps the storyline, but there’s a shock event awaiting that you don’t see coming, and I need to see how a certain character reacts to this more than I got. The AD was great though.

The Bear- Way better than the first three episodes, which would work better as one episode. Finally, things start to hapen, and I’m moderately interested again. Evan Moss Bacharach nails it in this one, and Roy Samuelson’s narration is perfect.

Off Campus- The sex scenes in this are pretty well done, not Bridgerton, but pretty good. Lots of gyrating instead of overusing thrusting all the time. I approve. The episode has a serious ending to it for Hannah, which is overplayed. I think they think their audience is stupid, so they spend far longer than needed suggesting what they need to suggest. The episode spends like five minuts trying to end because their foreshadowing is heavy.

Million Dollar Secret- A predictable pair of eliminations, and I have my favorite to win, out of the six remaining. The AD here is fun, as the host randomly skip away at one point.

Pop Culture Jeopardy- I didn’t have a clue on Final jeopardy, which is rare for me on Pop Culture Jeopardy. The AD here is better than it has any right to be.

The Rookie- Yes, I returned to John Nolan. I missed the guy. Man, Episode 6 is nuts, but Baily is gonna do her. I am actually looking forward to the next episode since they don’t have a police station anymore. The AD here is OK. it actually helped my Mom, who can see, because a lot was shot in a fire sequence with smoke, so it even gave her clarity as to what was happening, so i can’t begrudge it.

Abbott Elementary- Looks like the breakup was temporary, unless we’re about to have a Ross and Rachel situation. We were on a break! The AD here is underwhelming as usual, though it did seem to find the sight gags this episode.

Best? Off Campus or The Bear. Worst? It has to be Abbott, but the TTS voice on Detective Hole this episode bothered me more than usual. Sometimes, it helps to have a human narrator react a little, instead of sounding neutral to oddly optimistic, while something awful is happening.
