The 96th Academy Awards: Who Will Win?

I am literally filling out my ballot at Gold Derby. The ceremony is tomorrow, so I can’t put it off anymore. As I go through category by category, you can read my thoughts on who will win. Best Picture: Will Win: Oppenheimer Should Win: Honestly? 4 of these are in my personal Top 10, and 4 more are in my Top 25. I’m pretty happy with anything. Might Win: The Holdovers? I think when you look at history, our winners often look very different than the year before. Oppenheimer is very different from Everything Everywhere All At Once, which is … Continue reading The 96th Academy Awards: Who Will Win?

The Small Screen Diaries- 01/29/24

I finished Billions (Paramount Plus) officially. What a great finale, and a spinoff is totally set up for Taylor, so please make that happen. Kudos to Paula Hoffman and everyone who worked on the audio description for the two available seasons. My Life With The Walter Boys (Netflix) just suffers from having too many damn characters, and doing a poor job of describing them at the on set, so I don’t have a concrete idea of what these people look like. Anytime a new face shows up, there’s really nothing that describes them. Ted (Peacock) is shit. This audio description … Continue reading The Small Screen Diaries- 01/29/24

The Small Screen Diaries- 01/08/24

I managed to finally finish Fellow Travelers (Paramount Plus with Showtime), and man that was a fantastic show. Matt Bomer and Jonathan bailey gave fantastic performances, and I really enjoyed and appreciated the audio description. This was Golden Globe nominated, so make sure to check this out. Also, My Life With The Walter Boys (Netflix) is low key working on me. The audio description is below average, but not that far below. It’s one of those things that I’d be lying if I didn’t acknowledge that it could be better, but there are a billion characters in this show, so … Continue reading The Small Screen Diaries- 01/08/24

I Looked At The Netflix Report So You Don’t Have To

Netflix recently released a massive list of 18K titles that had at least 50K viewing hours on the platform for the first six months of 2023. They plan on making bi-annual reports like this and breaking down the idea that they aren’t transparent. I looked at it so you don’t have to. The list values time watched in hours, not necessarily who watched the whole season. So the longer the program, the better off it is. however, the list is broken down into seasons, so a powerhouse like grey’s Anatomy doesn’t propel to the top simply because it has a … Continue reading I Looked At The Netflix Report So You Don’t Have To

The Too Much TV Roundup- 12/01/23

Amazon officially cancelled Riches a year after it debuted on the service. This just pisses me off. That was such a great show. I wish more people had seen it, and I wish Amazon has positioned it with any kind of serious marketing that would have given it a chance. If you want a great 1 season wonder, the cast of Riches does not disappoint, especially if you like your prime time soaps. 1) Sex Education (Netflix) English Audio Description?: Yes Status: Final Season I kind of really need O to be called on her bullshit this season. I don’t … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- 12/01/23

Birth/Rebirth

Where to watch: VOD (iTunes, Prime Video) English Audio Description: yes AD Provider: Audio Eyes There’s a rich history of cinematic tribute to Mary Shelley’s seminal horror creation Frankenstein. Hammer’s gothic-tinged Frankenstein (1957), Tim Burton’s Edward Scissorhands (1990), Young Frankenstein (1974), and so many more. In 2023 we get Birth/Rebirth, a dark, unflinching, modern rendering of the famous tale. The story follows two very different characters: a hard-working nurse and loving mother, contrasted with a dispassionate, driven doctor, both laboring in the same hospital, but clearly worlds apart. Tragedy brings them together in an uneasy alliance forged by their mutual … Continue reading Birth/Rebirth

The It’s Way Too Early To Talk About Best Supporting actor Oscars

Already, i tackled the Picture, Actor, and actress races. now, onto Supporting Actor, way the hell before anyone really needs to. My power rankings are always based on who is most likely to be nominated, not necessarily win. 1) Robert DeNiro (killers Of The Flower moon) If it wasn’t clear already, people love villains. DeNiro has been nominated 8 times, and has won twice. While he feels like the kind of legend that could earn a third win, it also feels like he’s likely to be a lock for a nomination, and remain a frontrunner, but ultimately lose out to … Continue reading The It’s Way Too Early To Talk About Best Supporting actor Oscars

Transformers: Rise of The Beasts

Where I Watched It: Paramount Plus English Audio Description?: Yes I just want my readers to know, I’m really not trying to take the absurdity of your Transformers extension too much in mind in my grading. But, when I hear “Maximals” and “Optimus Primal”, lets just say my boundaries are tested. And I’ve watched a lot of bizarre things on paper. There’s a show where a giant talking shake, a giant box of fries, and a giant wad of meat live together and have silly adventures, and that franchise has led to two films. So, I really don’t want to … Continue reading Transformers: Rise of The Beasts

The Too Much TV Roundup- 05/27/23

Not aware of any major TV news, except I noticed that Apple is still calling this coming episode of Ted Lasso a Season 3 finale. Jason Sudekis has been pretty clear that this is the final season. I don’t know what the disconnect is. It also seems like with Ted likely moving home, and the rest of the cast living in the UK, if there was a Season 4, they’d have to dump the entire British Cast and follow Ted at a new team, or dump the title character, both decisions that could ruin a good thing. 8) Great Expectations … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- 05/27/23

The Too Much TV Roundup- 05/24/23

Well, my first day with MAX and I can say that I didn’t have a problem migrating. it did return a title I had removed from my Continue Watching. So, it’s aggressively trying to get me to watch something and give it a second chance. And, it refuses to play Shazam: Fury of The Gods, but other things went just fine. How has your MAX experience been? Are you ever so happy that we did all of this so you could have more reality TV? 9) Florida Man (Netflix) English Audio Description?: Yes Status: Limited Series I’m not sure what … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- 05/24/23

The Too Much TV Roundup- 04/19/23

I have no idea if there was substantial television news yesterday. I do however know that I saved a ton of money on my car insurance by switching to GEICO. That lizard has been alive way too long for them to not know what they’re doing over there. 5) 911 Lone Star (FOX/hulu) English Audio Description?: no Everything is pretty straight up fire that I watched yesterday. This one is the weakest of the five, only because the payoff doesn’t exist. in the same episode, we learn that Cap’s new girlfriend is in an open marriage, we meet the interesting … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- 04/19/23
