Legends Of The Fall: 30th Anniversary

Edward Zwick’s sprawling romantic epic turns 30 this year, so naturally, it’s time to take a grown up look at this film. I remember parts of this, from a part in time when my mom would make me close my eyes during certain sequences. Not that 11 year old me was really excited about Legends of The Fall, but it does feel like we should revisit it. After all, it is an Oscar nominee, and has an impressive little ensemble of Anthony Hopkins, Brad Pitt, Julia Ormond, Aidan Quinn, and Henry Thomas. Hopkins plays the patriarch of this family living … Continue reading Legends Of The Fall: 30th Anniversary

40 For 40: Part 2

Keeping in line with my 40th birthday this year, here is the second list of films I watched. I’m trying to cast a wide net and bring in multiple streamers, but peacock refuses to host audio description for Universal titles not made in the last 3 years. So just like the first ten, one of these does not have audio description. This list spans films I saw over June and July, so it is possible that some have left the service listed. While there are numbers, this is not a rank of my favorites from best to worst, but rather … Continue reading 40 For 40: Part 2

Babylon

Where I Watched It: paramount Plus English Audio Description?: Yes Nominated for three Oscar’s, Babylon was noted this year for being an expensive dump of elephant crap. That’s not exactly the best way to think about Babylon, but even before this film was released in theatres, I heard mixed things. Basically, if you can make it past the first ten minutes, this three hour tour won’t bother you. But, Damien Chazelle banking a 100M+ oscar bait movie on a film that starts with an elephant shitting all over someone is a tough ask. He might be getting a little big … Continue reading Babylon

Bullet Train

Where I Watched It: Netflix English Audio Description Available?: yes i remember the unknown I had going into Snowpiercer. it was this film that wasn’t billed as a wide release, from a well-respected foreign director, and it felt like i was part of the beginning of something amazing. i still think Snowpiercer is a terrific film, easily one of my favorites, with an absolute bonkers performance from Tilda Swinton. TNT had to go and ruin the concept by spreading it over a TV show which is fine, but very much not the same quality. When I heard Bullet Train announced, … Continue reading Bullet Train

The Lost City

Starring: Sandra Bullock, Channing Tatum, Daniel Radcliffe, Brad Pitt, Divine Joy Randolph, and Oscar Nunez. Directed By: Aaron and Adam May Where I Watched It: Paramount Plus English Audio Description Available?: Yes Narrated By: Darren Polis The Plot: Did you see Romancing The Stone? Well… Sandra Bullock is an author who would much rather be writing books about history, but no one would read those, so she incorporates her knowledge into trashy romance novels that are a huge hit, due in part to her cover model (Tatum), who she assumes is an idiot. But when her newest book starts talking … Continue reading The Lost City
