Wish

Wish landed with all the enthusiasm of an audience that did not enjoy the 2022 Disney entry Strange World. There was too much weight on this film being a part of Disney’s 100 years celebration. It was supposed to somehow represent the totality of everything that came after Walt first conceived the mouse that would go on to launch an empire. Somehow, Wish would bring in the audiences who loved early Disney animation like Snow White and The Seven Dwarves, the middle years with 101 Dalmatians, the dark times of The Black Cauldron, the renaissance of The Lion King, the … Continue reading Wish

Dungeons And Dragons: honor Among Thieves

Where I Watched it: Paramount Plus English Audio Description?: Yes I think we should wait for Jonathan. Well, I hope we can all agree this is better than the last big screen attempt at a Dungeons and Dragons movie. I say this with the knowledge that I’m not a D&D fan, so I’m not sure how those dice rollers feel about this comic take on their game. but, it reminds me of the last cinematic attempt at power Rangers. Way better than anyone thought it would be, yet still somehow never got a sequel. The whole cast is entertaining, but … Continue reading Dungeons And Dragons: honor Among Thieves

Don’t Worry darling

Where I Watched it: HBo MAX Audio Description provided By: Deluxe Narrated By: Laura Post It is rare that I find myself thinking that Laura Post wasn’t the right voice for the film. But, Post, who thrives in describing Disney content, uses a rather upbeat voice for a rather dark psychological thriller. It’s like oil and water. Both are great separately, but together, they don’t mix. However, the written narration here is something worth talking about. one of the things this narration succeeds in is with the description of the many dance sequences. Yes, there’s dance in this. Whoever wrote … Continue reading Don’t Worry darling

The Contractor

Where I Watched It: Look, the film is on Showtime, and I have a subscription. Did I have to “find” the audio description elsewhere? Sure. But, I technically have access to this film through my paid subscription to Showtime. English Audio Description Available?: Again, if you can find it. Description Provided By: Pixel Logic Narrated By: Laura Post What really is there to say about The Contractor? Not much. It’s a pretty generic paint-by-numbers action film that worked well for what it set out to achieve. Considering there are generations of people still watching films in the Sniper universe (a … Continue reading The Contractor

Best Of 2016: Some Honorable Mention Performances

I’m about to start releasing my top 10 performances lists, but there are some performances this year that are outside that list. I figured, I’d list them here. Of course, this might give you an idea of what my top 10’s are, since these performances are going to be missing from those lists. I’ve left off performances I was able to already recognize in another category, like comedy, or young actor. These are all performances, for the most part, that at one time or another were on my top 10 list, but got moved off as I saw more films.
