The Small Screen Diaries: 10/02/26

John Stark

Kicking off today’s Small Screen Diaries is a brand new show, something that I heard through the grapevine from critics was going to be excellent, and that is the new HBO Max drama War, starring Dominic West and Sienna Miller. This definitely piqued my interest, although I think the title may be a little soft and not necessarily descriptive of what the show is actually about. We’ll see with later episodes if they end up justifying the title. Sort of like how Succession told you exactly what that show was about, War seems to perhaps go a little bit overboard, … Continue reading The Small Screen Diaries: 10/02/26

I think the biggest, and really only relevant, TV news to kick this off today is the fact that Netflix has once again proven the term “limited series” means absolutely nothing. They have picked up The Beast in Me for a second season. Originally billed as a limited series, the show is coming back with Claire Danes set to return as Aggie Wiggs following her Emmy-nominated work in the first season. We’ll see if this turns out to be a good decision for Netflix or not. In other TV news, only because I don’t think I’ve mentioned it yet, Disney+ … Continue reading The Small Screen Diaries: 09/24/26

Happy Valentine’s Day! For this Valentine’s I got you some TV News to start your day. Apple has renewed Invasion for a 3rd season, while Netflix has picked up Survival Of The Thickest for a second season. The latter of the two took way too long, and must have come down to a budgeting wire. I am shockingly still with Boy Swallows The Universe (Netflix), which is actually better once you get past the pilot. Still, it’s a very odd show, but the 4th episode continues with the boys trying to adapt to living with their estranged alcoholic father, wanting … Continue reading The Small Screen Diaries- 02/13/24

Christmas is almost upon us. Yet, Peacock is holding their premiere of the Focus features Holiday Oscar contender, The Holdovers, until Dec 29th. What’s so weird, is that The Last Voyage Of The Demeter still hasn’t found its way, and neither has Oppenheimer. Barbie is on MAX, when is Oppenheimer coming to Peacock? 1) Sex Education (Netflix) English Audio Description?: Yes Status: Final Season The series finale. Today, the Golden Globes announce their nominations. Do I have any WILD predictions? Usually the Globes find a way of throwing love to new things, and acting like they are trendsetters. I noticed another critics group put him in their Best Actor list, so I actually gave Ramon Rodriguez a slot this year for Will Trent. That’s my boldest prediction on the TV side. If I get it right, I think I level up. 1) Blue Eye Samurai (Netflix) English Audio Description?: Yes Status: Unknown I was thinking this would be a half hour anime, but this thing is an … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- 12/10/23

I’m not feeling the Pedro Pascal casting as Reed Richards, only because I was really hoping for John Krasinski.I know Pascal is hot right now, with The Last Of Us and The Mandalorian, so it makes sense. but Emily Blunt could have played Invisible Girl, and we know Krasinski can write/direct. Just saying. 1) Shelter (Amazon) English Audio Description?: Yes Status: Not Yet Renewed Well, that was a doozie of a finale. I think this show was always all over the place, until it actually started trying to tie everything together. The Too Much TV Roundup- May 30th

Lots of random TV shows were consumed on Memorial Day. Let’s see where they finally stacked up. 1) Bridgerton (Netflix) English Audio Description: Yes In the 7th episode, shit starts getting real. The fallout from the lack of the wedding starts to plague the families involved, meanwhile the Queen has set her sights on her target, which prompts a response from Lady Whistledown. But that final moment, where Anthony sees Kate in what could be a deadly accident (let’s face it, medical science in this time period is not on her side), put me on a cliffhanger for what I … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- May 30th
