Well, started off my morning with shitty news. Apple Plus has cancelled high Desert. honestly, I understand it. The pilot was off putting initially, but once you get past it, Patricia Arquette is doing a hell of a job keeping this thing together. And, Matt Dillon and Brad Garrett do a pretty decent job supporting her. Paramount Plus is purging again. This time, I won’t be burned by saying everything has already been removed. The biggest cancellation/removal is Inside Amy Schumer. The rest are some documentaries, Paramount Plus original movies (Snow Day and Fantasy Football), and a bunch of Nickelodeon shows, only two of which I had even heard of. Yesterday, I had the awesome opportunity to attend a panel at the American Concil of the Blind’s virtual conference presented by the Audio Description Project that featured reps from the major streaming services, all of whom came to talk about just how committed they are, without actually putting a number on that commitment. Well, NBC has opted to not renew American Auto after all. Looks like a solid victim of the writers strike, as they needed to either extend contracts at the end of the month, or cancel. Well, HBo cancelled Perry Mason after two seasons.What a shame. Well, that Disney/Hulu pull list I mentioned earlier got a little shorter as the internet clapped back about one title Disney was planning on purging, the documentary Howard, which centers around the composer Howard Ashman who was instrumental in the revival of Disney, starting with The little Mermaid. Not only did it seem in poor taste to remove a documentary about an LGBT icon right before pride month, but also right before the live action adaptation of his work hits the big screen. Disney Plus and hulu are dropping several shows from their services here in a few days, so if you hadn’t finished any of these shows: Willow, Big Shot, The mysterious Benedict Society, Turner and hooch, The World According To Jeff Goldblum, Maggie, Pistol, y The Last Man, Little Demon, Dollface, or any of the movies or specials disappearing with them, now would be the time to catch up. I would recommend a binge of Big Shot if you never got to see it. Well, FOX is still holding out on some decisions but announced a writer’s proof schedule full of reality TV. They even revived Kitchen Nightmares. I believe ABC is the only network that hasn’t done an upfront yet, possibly also The CW.
