Afraid (2024)- Hey Siri, Tell Alexa There’s Nothing Remotely Scary Here Quick Take: I refuse. They tried to follow the AI horror title M3gan, with their own obnoxious title, Afr1d, which is just totally unnecessary. The whole film is unnecessary. this film isn’t scary, there are no consequences, and it is fundamentally everything wrong with cheap horror. Did you feel like you got hit on the head yesterday? That’s because Paramount Global has axed streamer Noggin, which launched as a cable channel in 199, before developing its own paid service in 2015. Nine years later, Paramount Global is on fire, and they need to cut costs. A lot of the basic core programs of Noggin are available on Paramount Plus anyway, so I’m sure this is just a redundancy they felt was needed. I was more surprised that 800 people worked for Noggin. There are a lot of articles out there about “When is my favorite show coming back?” Presumably, once the leadership passes the tentative agreement on, they will lift the restrictions while WGA members vote on whether or not to approve. Right now, the only thing that has stopped is picketing. Today is the day Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem hits Paramount Plus. The strike has been going on for a lot longer than the studios thought they would. That’s for sure. I haven’t seen another movie abandon ship from 2023 yet. Not quite as many shows today, but more than the previous Monday. The big TV news is that HBO has predictably cancelled The idol.
