Going In blind: Presence

First Person Audio description is so interesting. I loved how Nickel Boys navigated the complexities of the perspective being one of the characters in the film, with other characters interacting with you. Presence, directed by Steven Soderbergh, feels like a departure from his typical fare, and also serves as further exploration of first person audio description. Universal Studios, the theme park element, was built on the idea that you can “ride the movies”. Now, with the right VR headset and a good first person movie, you can live the movies. In Presence, you wouldn’t exactly be alive. What makes Presence … Continue reading Going In blind: Presence

Red One

Red One (Amazon)- Really Overcomplicates The Magic Behind Great Holiday Movies Quick Take: Talk about a film that made zero impact on me. My video was shot after having seen it, and just now catching up to this, I’ve almost entirely forgotten this film. I remember Chris Evans, and his character’s backstory. he had an accent. Dwayne Jonson was here. But, my brain has deleted this, because it was so average. I remember the films I loved or liked, and I remember the movies I didn’t like or hated, but put enough time between me and a movie I’m mostly … Continue reading Red One

Shazam: Fury Of The Gods

Where I Watched it: MAX English Audio Description provided By: Deluxe Narrated By: Jedidiah Barton I will die on the hill that even if DC is trying to torpedo Shazam’s own franchise, Zachary Levi needs to stay. The smartest decision James Gunn could make would be to figure out an alternative way of using Levi. Sadly, this sequel doesn’t hold up to the original. Where the third Ant-Man film didn’t match the first two, Shazam really just feels like they gave up. Luckily, Zachary Levi is effortless in this role. he’s so good, so perfectly cast. he’s a giant man … Continue reading Shazam: Fury Of The Gods

Strange World

Where i Watched It: Disney plus English Audio Description Provided By: Deluxe Narrated By: Nicole Sansorella I basically live in a world where I just consume media, like a critic, whether I care about the film or not. I do draw the line every once in a while, like I have no intention of ever reviewing Terrifier 2, but I try my hardest to walk in with an open mind every time. I gotta say, i walked into Strange World assuming it sucked. It’s not the same way i chose Turning Red earlier this year, where I saw it immediately … Continue reading Strange World

Play It To The Bone

STARRING: Antonio Banderas, Woody Harrelson, Lolita Davidovich, Tom Sizemore, Lucy Liu, Robert Wagner WRITTEN BY: Ron Shelton DIRECTED BY: Ron Shelton I can’t believe this movie is 14 years old. Woody Harrelson looks exactly the same in this film as he does now. It’s startling to see that he really hasn’t aged much since then. Antonio Banderas has put on a few years, but not much, certainly not 14. In Play It To The Bone, both men are pegged as boxers who are really too old to still be doing this, yet are still looking for a second chance. While … Continue reading Play It To The Bone
