Minions And Monsters

John Stark

The Despicable Me franchise has been a bit of a downhill ride. I would comfortably say that I enjoyed the first two Despicable Me films, but once they introduced Dru, Gru’s twin brother, and had Steve Carell essentially doing the same thing twice, I started to lose interest. Despicable Me 4 certainly didn’t do anything to help me regain it. I enjoyed the first Minions spinoff a bit more than most people seemed to, but its sequel, Minions: The Rise of Gru, didn’t do much for me. Especially considering Minions was already a prequel, making The Rise of Gru a … Continue reading Minions And Monsters

Kicking off the Small Screen Diaries for the day is a look ahead at the week, and there are some interesting things happening. Probably the biggest is Dexter: Resurrection returning to Paramount+ on Friday. Aside from that, Hulu has a new reality show called The Mob arriving Monday, featuring a decent slate of celebrities and hosted by Parker Posey. Bill Murray is doing a show about golf courses in Ireland for Paramount+, while Netflix has a new docuseries about Matthew Perry arriving Tuesday. Apple TV has a new Liev Schreiber series, Nocturne, starting Friday. And while it technically isn’t in … Continue reading The Small Screen Diaries: 10/24/26

The Small Screen Diaries: 10/02/26

Kicking off today’s Small Screen Diaries is a brand new show, something that I heard through the grapevine from critics was going to be excellent, and that is the new HBO Max drama War, starring Dominic West and Sienna Miller. This definitely piqued my interest, although I think the title may be a little soft and not necessarily descriptive of what the show is actually about. We’ll see with later episodes if they end up justifying the title. Sort of like how Succession told you exactly what that show was about, War seems to perhaps go a little bit overboard, … Continue reading The Small Screen Diaries: 10/02/26

Casa Bonita Mi Amor

Casa Bonita Mi Amor (Paramount Plus)- All That South Park Money Goes Somewhere Quick Take: Trey Parker and Matt Stone have made a ton of money. A ton. From South Park to the Book Of Mormon, these two are doing just fine. This is a movie about how they tried to take a chunk of that money and save something they loved in Colorado from their childhood. It can best be described as some similar minded Chucky Cheese or Dave And Busters. A place where you could have all the fun and food. I had a place like that when … Continue reading Casa Bonita Mi Amor

South Park: Bigger, Longer, and Uncut: 25th Anniversary

John Stark

I am a big fan of South Park. i was a fan even though the small town in Missouri where I grew up didn’t have Comedy Central as part of our package. I spent trips watching shows on channels I couldn’t get at home, which is how I got my Beavis and butthead fix, South Park, and even an introduction to The Sopranos. Hell, I couldn’t even participate in peak TRL because I didn’t have MTV. It wasn’t that we weren’t paying for it, the only way to get it would have been a satellite dish, which wasn’t happening, and … Continue reading South Park: Bigger, Longer, and Uncut: 25th Anniversary

The Too Much TV Roundup- July 24th

I finally got around to starting a few new shows, as well as getting back into Evil (so I’m a little behind this season). But with the new shows, which one managed to top the list? 1) The Orville (Hulu) English Audio Description Available?: Yes Well, I rarely head with a spoiler warning, but we need to talk about this Season premiere. First, it’s been a minute since we’ve had the pleasure of the crew from The Orville after it moved to hulu. Covid delays and such. I’m actually surprised at the amount of people I know watching this. I … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- July 24th
