Well, the WGA didn’t end up going back to the table after all. So the strike is still on. i truly believe these studios refuse to budge on AI, and the guilds can’t afford to, because they understand once they allow it in the door contractually it will start putting people out of work. When you start scanning background/atmosphere talent and owning their likeness in perpetuity, that’s the end of acting, and when writers start being hired to essentially do a rewrite instead of write a script, but it’s a rewrite of an AI generated script, their already paltry fee … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- 08/04/23

After a day of some interesting news, the best thing I’ve got for you this morning is that hulu has cancelled Up Here after 1 season. I didn’t even finish that show, so no love lost here. 12) Mulligan (Netflix) English Audio Description?: Yes Status: Not yet Renewed When trying to figure out who lands on the bottom, every once in a while I run into the problem of watching too much TV, and not really remembering something. All i remember was Tina Fey’s character yelling at someone to be a dumbass, and the Senator character joking about how Spanish … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- 07/28/23

It’s amazing how many people out there have no problem consuming the work of the SAG and WGA but are complaining now because they think actors are little babies. While streaming residuals are a factor, since syndication and linear viewing are down, it is not the only factor. The use of AI technology is a key factor in both guilds. The writers do not want AI to be a credited screenwriter taking over their job, nor do the SAG want AI images of them used in perpetuity. The major studios and networks want to do things like scan crowd scenes … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- 07/14/23

Sex Education is ending with Season 4. I’m OK with that. It’s a show about High Schoolers. one of their main cast is now Doctor Who. And, several key cast aren’t coming back for the final season. Plus, for a show that should be relatively easy to shoot, it’s taking a really long time for this season to roll out. 13) Cheers (Paramount Plus) English Audio Description?: No Status: Ended Let me tell you. This episode was a nail biter. i thought Sam was going to throw away everything to be arm candy for a political candidate. I’m glad we … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- 07/06/23

Some days are easier to rank than others. This is one of those days. 1) For All Mankind (Apple Plus) English Audio Description?: Yes In Happy valley, the race to Mars is on. There’s a dab of politics in this episode, but this quickly becomes about saving the lives of the Russian crew that are lagging behind, and after attempting to pull off something stupid, end up putting their lives in mortal danger. Ultimately, one of the two crews heades by either Danielle or Ed has to save them, but it would mean that crew wouldn’t have enough fuel to … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- August 20th

I started a few more shows today, and sadly none of them reached the top spot. Sometimes, it takes time. 1) Only Murders In The building (Hulu) English Audio Description: Yes The winner today was everyone’s favorite gang of podcasters, who continue to try and solve the mystery of why they are being framed. but, it was the injection of some heavy hitting guest stars that sent this episode over the top, from Tina Fey’s unnecessarily cutthroat rival caster, Jane Lynch’s always welcome return as the one time stunt double, Amy Ryan’s deliciously evil killer, or Michael Rappaport’s exhausted lead … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- August 14th
