The Too Much TV Roundup: Tuesday May 10th

Trying a new thing with my TV Roundups, so i can talk about more shows. It’s becoming harder to do just a top 10, and this is a broader look at everything I watch. This will slowly become what I want it to be.

i did watch a movie yesterday (review not yet published), so that won’t be listed, but may have brought down the amount of TV shows.

1) New Amsterdam (NBC/Peacock/Hulu)

English Audio Description Available?: Depends on the platform.

So, I watched the first of the two new episodes this week, and I’m really hating that this season 4 villain has made it as long as she has. Rarely have i wanted a character on a TV show to be hit with a bus while also having a train smash into her, and then a plane fall on her. Fuentes is literally “The Worst”. And, that was quite a fast recovery from that stroke. Too fast.

Episode Grade: B+

2) The Great North (FOX/Hulu)

English Audio Description?: I’ve only ever watched on hulu, so I have to say No.

Ham is gay. Again. I don’t know if its the talented voice cast, or what, but I love The Great North, and something about it doesn’t even make me notice the lack of audio description. Either it’s the great voice over work, or the fact that every episode ends with a nonsensical song, but I’ve been a fan since the Pilot.

Episode Grade: B+

3) Frazier (Paramount Plus)

Audio Description Available?: No

Yes, my rerun of Frazier ended up 3rd on my list this week. It was a nice episode where Frazier and Nile’s kept trying to get their dad the best 65th birthday present. Eventually, one of them did.

Episode Grade: B+

4) Full Frontal With Samantha Bee (TBS)

English Audio Description Available?: no

i did this on demand, obviously it doesn’t air on Tuesdays. But I was an episode behind, so i caught up. Obviously, between yesterday admitting that I watched last Week Tonight, to now admitting that I watch Samantha Bee, you’re starting to form a pattern of me in your head. I know it. But I didn’t want to leave out any program.

Episode Grade: B+

5) Jeopardy (Syndication)

English Audio Description?: No

Which is why Jeopardy always slides in. I’m even admitting that I watched jeopardy last night. I watch this every night, by the way, so it should be fun to see how the rankings move up and down. Last night’s winner was the author responsible for the book that launched the TV show The 100. Fun fact.

Episode Grade: B

6) The Good Doctor (ABC/hulu)

English Audio Description Available?: Sometimes.

This one didn’t have audio description, but enough episodes have had it off and on that I’ve managed to keep up with, and follow the progression of these characters. Last night brought Claire back, and also set up the wedding. However, that TV show producer was far too chill at the end of the episode, all things considered.

Episode Grade: B-

7) The Equalizer ( CBS/Paramount Plus)

English Audio Description Available?: Yes

Fresh off a two season renewal came a storyline that wanted us to believe in a premonition. Meh. We’ve had better episodes. And I don’t miss Chris noth from the show either. His character barely did anything. I’m not even sure he was in every episode even when he was a series regular.

Episode Grade: B-

8) Top Chef (Bravo/peacock)

English Audio Description Available?: No

I’d love for this show to inherit audio description. i was a big Top Chef fan before losing my vision, and I keep trying to watch a show that is seriously hard to follow, and I can’t see the dishes. i only hear them described. It does make me hungry though. I’ve seen every season, vision or not. And, for whatever reason, I’m actually not up to date.

Episode Grade: B-

9) This Is us (NBC/Peacock)

English Audio Description Available?: Yes

i know I’m supposed to be raving about this show. But since this is the first time I think I’ve talked about this show on my website, i checked out the moment they dropped that season finale last year. I deeply resent the Kate and Toby storyline, and the only reason I even returned this season was on the off chance that they would surprise me, and have those two work their way back to each other. That doesn’t seem to be happening, so at this point, I’m basically hate watching a show i once loved. It’s funny how sometimes one decision from a producer can ruin a show for a viewer. It happens a lot in series finales, creating divisive moments that fans bitch about for years (True Blood, Game Of Thrones, Seinfeld, The Sopranos, and now Ozark), but it also happens sometimes during the run of the series. I admittedly stopped watching Dexter after Rita left the show. I should have left This Is us by now, but there are still episode left, and I’m crazy enough to think they’re still just screwing with us. But for right now…

Episode Grade: C- (Yes, the acting is still on point even though I’m perpetually too angry to truly appreciate it).
