Where I Watched It: Netflix
English Audio Description?: Yes
OK, so, I’m actually this far behind that my final Christmas film to review I got to two days after Christmas. It’s Ok. This film wasn’t great, and my grade is skewed because I had this weird experience that somehow made it better. Let me explain.
First off, the movie does have a cute premise that would work if a real cast wanted to do it. A woman starts dating a man who believes in Santa. Cute. it could be. But, being blind, I have no idea who these people are. The cast in this film is a bunch of nobodies. Sorry to be blunt, but it’s true.
But, the main guy, to me, sounded a lot like Ed Helms. So, this visual thing that happens to me when i watch a movie, where I incorporate basically what i used to be able to see, was made better, because I was able to cast Ed helms in this role, because that’s the voice I heard. In my head, i watched an Ed Helms movie. And I got to thinking about how much this film fits Ed helms, and that super nice character he often plays, like most recently on Rutherford Falls. however, that’s not the reality. And the film basically gives up at the end.
So, while I will oddly remember this film in a more positive light for what it could ahve been, it’s very unlikely that anyone else would have that same experience. Maybe you will hear the voice of Ed Helms too. Maybe you’ll find that enjoyable in some small way like I did. or, perhaps, I’ve seen too many films, and I’m losing my mind.
It’s probably the latter.
