The Too Much TV Roundup- 03/30/23

Something big happened yesterday. Something huge. Something I never thought I’d see happen.

E3 was cancelled.

What? You thought I was going to say something else?

6) The Masked Singer (FOX/Hulu)

English Audio Description?; No

I didn’t even know who that last person was. When we start bringing on an influx of reality talent, that’s eventually what sank Dancing With The Stars. And George Wendt, interesting choice, but kids have no idea who taht was. And none of those three could sing. Not even Doll who advanced. Sorry, not sorry.

Episode Grade: C+

5) Mayor Of Kings Town (Paramount Plus)

English Audio Description?: Yes

While the hour started off interesting with that robbery sequence, it kinda just fell back into its usual tropes, and still refuses to fully utilize it’s second billed star.

Episode Grade: B-

4) Night Court (NBC/Peacock)

English Audio Description?: Yes

The Blood Moon episode was relatively interesting. No idea who the guest star was that the audience went nuts for. But someone played a likely to recur at some point character, and wasn’t half bad. One of the better episodes this season.

Episode Grade: B

3) Not Dead Yet (ABC/Hulu)

English Audio Description?: Yes

I think this show is really finding its own footing, and deserves a chance to continue to show what it can do next season. hopefully that doesn’t come at the expense of home Economics, which should return for a fourth season with Casey Wilson. But this Lamb Chop knock off episode was pretty decent. I forgot how terrific Lauren Ash really is.

Episode Grade: A-

2) Truth Be Told (Apple)

English Audio Description?: Yes

Well, this was a sobering episode as we watched the girls be reintegrated into their childhoods. It’s interesting to see how people view these girls, and even how the older adult that got away is afraid the world will see her. This show is making a really strong statement about the value we put supposedly on the health and well being of these girls, but secretly there’s this undertone that they must have had a choice, or participated in their own trafficking somehow.

Episode Grade: A

1) You (Netflix)

English Audio Description?: Yes

The crazed fan episode that finally gave Joe/Jonathan a solid scapegoat for the murders. I’m still a bit perplexed at how often he and Kate hook up this season, since Penn Badgely made a pretty public statement about his concern for romanticizing his character and his refusal to continue to do sex scenes. I guess that was a load of bullshit.

Episode Grade: A
