The Too Much TV Roundup- 05/31/23

Lots of interesting TV news. Danny Masterson clearly will not be appearing on That 90’s Show ever. Kim Cattral will be returning to And Just Like That next season. Oh, and it’s technically June 1st, so Happy Pride Month!

12) Fatal Attraction (Paramount Plus)

English Audio Description?: Yes

Status: Not Yet Renewed

I think this just fell on bottom due to several things. First, I’m not a big fan of the monotone narration. Not that there’s the best way to describe when a man enters a woman and starts thrusting, but there’s something just so lifeless about how those scenes are approached in episode 2. In general, I think they are rushing the relationship, as Jackson/Caplan have almost no chemistry. They spar back and forth nicely at times, but when their relationship turned sexual, it just felt forced. Almost as if the storyline and plot were more important than the characters or their development, so if the characters weren’t up to speed, who cares? I do. I’m a big fan of both those actors, but separately.

11) Dead Ringers (Amazon)

English Audio Description?: Yes

Status: Limited Series

This show is all over the place sometimes. It’s somewhat unnerving, but then it’s also just bizarre. I’m not always sure that the experiences presented are always earned. I’ll say Rachel Weiss is doing a very interesting turn, but this show does vary widely not just from episode to episode, but even within the episode.

RIP John Beasley, who played Irv, the man who narrates every episode. He’s also in the show, though not as much in this episode, as our favorite doc debates whether or not to do Colin’s surgery. Meanwhile, Delia’s friend likes to play dress-up, which includes make-up, and this show was shot in the early 2000’s, so of course the parents are shocked and overreact. And that will be the last we see of Magilla.

1) Ted lasso (Apple Plus)

English Audio Description?: Yes

Status: Final Season

I don’t know why anyone would want another season. Stop asking people about one. This was a beautiful finale, and I was fighting tears. It was set up so well, and it wrapped up the stories nicely. I was surprised only by who replaced Ted, but pleasantly surprised. This is one of those fantastic series finales that will go down in history for its absolute perfection. So many little moments that just came together, and nods to how everything will work out in the end for everyone. What Ted wrote in his feedback on the book, might be the only indicator of how the show could continue. i feel like that was the loophole, but I stilll disagree. This was very much about him, and his presence is what made everyone a better human being.
