I love when hulu picks up a show clearly from another English speaking place, and touts it as a Hulu original, but also says fuck audio description. This didn’t even premiere this week. it’s been a minute, and this unintelligible Aussie drama has no AD. There’s virtually no dialogue, the plot is incomprehensible, and I have no patience.

9) City on Fire (Apple Plus)

A series that doesn’t earn the investments it thinks we have in these characters. The catalyst was too soon, the mystery was too vague, and I’m not watching past the second episode. it didn’t get better. If you’ve been following my roundups, you known low scores are rare largely because I’m aware of the amount of reality TV i could be grading down here that I just don’t watch, as well as some other awful shows I also choose to not watch. I don’t waste my time on stuff like this.

The finale. In my opinion, Best instrumentalist: Druve, Best Vocals: Mikayla, Most Technically Country: Chuck. I saw no upside in Ali. They went with Best Voice. It’ll be interesting to see how country music accepts her, because i think she’s much more of a pop vocalist waiting to follow in the steps of Adele and Pink.

Suddenly, Rose has a job. We actually go to the job. Wasn’t she a nurse or something in another episode? Also, love is in the air as Dorothy tries to hide the fact that she might be willing to give her ex a shot.

I just needed more joe Pesci. We got a lot of Pete’s crew, and a side plot with his mom and sister, but I’m really here for Pesci.

5) Shiny Happy people (Amazon)

For some reason, this episode had my audio description playing at a much lower volume. As this wasn’t the only thing i watched today, obviously, nor the only Amazon series, I gotta take off a point here. but, otherwise, this show is really eye opening in the way that there are some people out there who are doing some truly crazy shit.

Following the truth bomb about Sebastian, the President has Mercer looking for max and Eugene. Max is going to get a pardon if she admits to being mentally unstable and off her meds, while the future is not bright for Eugene. Princess tires to get her boyfriend Mercer to do the right thing, and has an excellent monologue in the process. Meanwhile, Aaron discovers the zombies are evolving.

I was going to go full A+ on this, because I thought it was the season finale. Then Hulu reminded me there are more episodes. Why? This was so perfect. It did not need more.There was a cliffhanger for next season and everything. We don’t need to fully absolve these characters before the end of the season.

2) Queen Charlotte (Netflix)

Episode 4 is mostly from George’s perspective as we continue to wonder about what ails him. And we see what he’s willing to subject himself to so he’s not “The mad King”. It mostly fills in gaps, but it does it in such a really well done manner.

I was not ready for this episode. The Friars Club episode. I don’t think this show has ever gotten me actually choked up before, but I was fighting tears. Damn. This also would have made a great finale, but also might be shows finest hour, and the answer to why this should win the Emmy this year.
