I was just thinking to myself the other day, when the hell is the second season of Julia coming out? It can’t be that hard of a show to shoot. Then, MAX sent me a push notification like it can read my brain, and let me know that Julia returns in November. Sarah Lancashire is brilliant, so start catching up if you’ve never seen it.
10) Praise Petey (Hulu)
English Audio Description?: No
Status: Unknown
What actually was this about? I remember there was a guy from New York, and he used to be a part of the cult but he says he was removed for being too attractive, and Petey is trying to revive the paper. I also think the episode started out with her on a date. I remember fragments.Perhaps if the show had audio description, I’d remember it better.
Episode Grade: C+
9) Alf (Peacock)
English Audio Description?: No
Status: Ended
It’s just this little part of me that says, as a blind critic, that if your episode or movie features a blind person or character, perhaps it should have audio description? I felt a lot of different ways about how this episode used the blind character, some of it good, some of it bad. Not that Alf is ever the series to take a serious discussion about anything to, but it decided to cross this bridge. I’d like to think I’d notice I was dating a hairy 3 foot tall alien with a giant nose.

8) Still Up (Apple Plus)
English Audio Description?: Yes
Status: Not Yet Renewed
The agoraphobic half has met someone online, and the other half that lives in the real world gets her dress stolen by some obnoxious teens. Second episode in, and I’m “Still Waiting” for this to get good.

7) X-Men (Disney Plus)
English Audio Description?: No
Status: Ended
Morph is back, with some shenanigans. Why does Wolverine sound different? Did they switch voice actors?
Episode Grade: B
6) First Wives Club (BET Plus)
English Audio Description?: No
Status: I Assume Ended
One of the ladies is shocked to find out that at 49, she is still fertile. This is a problem, as she doesn’t want kids, but her potential new husband wouldn’t mind them, so of course she sets him free.
Episode Grade: B
5) The Gold (Paramount Plus)
English Audio Description?: Yes
Status: Limited?
The first episode was a bit slower, the second one is still slower than I’d like. Again, it just feels like stretching this premise out to get some episode count is leaving for a lot of dull moments. Yes, some scenes work, and it’s interesting to see the police working the investigation, but it could be better.
Episode Grade: B
4) The Witcher (Netflix)
English Audio Description?: Yes
Status: Renewed
Garolt realizes that power hungry people will seek out someone like Siri regardless of whether they can obtain Siri, just so they can increase their chances of being in power. Also, this episode had a “What’s in the box?” Moment. If you know, you know.
Episode Grade: B+
3) Deadlocked (Paramount Plus)
English Audio Description?: Yes
Status: Limited
The third episode of this docuseries moves forward with a look at the court in the 90’s and 00’s, presuming that from the Merrick Garland debate till present is the last episode. Not to be political, but I do like how full circle moments come around. And even though this show doesn’t connect the dots, John Roberts was instrumental in removing the pre screening part of the Voting Rights Act that said certain areas that had historically disenfranchised minority voters had to clear any new voting laws with the federal government, a case that Roberts decided out of Alabama. Alabama is the same state the Supreme Court found this year had Gerrymandered its new district lines on their voting map, and required them to change it, to which the state legislature said No. Perhaps, Roberts, who was part of the decision to redraw the map, hadn’t made the first call, he wouldn’t be bothered with this second call and the defiance resulting from it. Just food for thought.
Episode Grade: A-
2) Fleabag (Amazon)
English Audio Description?: Yes
Status: Ended
Fleabag attends the art show, where her boyfriend breaks up with her, and she has to look at molds of her ex-boyfriend and also a sculpture of her dad’s penis. Then, Claire brings her guy with her, the one that tried to kiss Fleabag, dismissing Fleabag as a liar, and we learn how boo died. A heavy episode.
Episode Grade: A
1) 10 Year old Tom (MAX)
English Audio Description?: Yes
Status: Please?
This hilarious Season 2 finale didn’t really tell two different stories, but devoted the whole episode to Tom needing to go to Mexico to get his birth certificate, because without it he is an illegal alien. I just accepted this nonsense, as this isn’t educational, it’s just supposed to be silly, and sillly it was. A lot of fun, and I hope MAX sticks with this show.
