Black Mirror- Shut Up And Dance. Like the episode before, Play Test, it took the road traveled instead of less traveled. The episode really didn’t evolve that category of films and shows where someone is blackmailed by a mysterious entity to do tasks they wouldn’t otherwise normally do. This has been done before, and Black Mirror just did a competent version of it. I’ve come to expect more from this series, which typically seems to present the darkest timeline of our ever evolving obsession with technology. the audio description was fine, and necessary since there’s quite a bit of texting. But, nothing that really stood out to me.

The buccaneers- Nan is standing in her own way, as she just can’t be happy with her Duke accepting her for all she is. Even when she finds out he knew about Guy’s telegram, which means he’s always known her heritage, she throws it in his face. However, she just comes across as spoiled, because he makes a fair point that he felt it was her secret to keep, not his to pry from her. He did actually genuinely wait for her to tell him, and never asked her to, and never made her feel less than for it. Meanwhile, her mom is banking on Nan not being selfish, as she would like to leave her cheating husband, since her daughter is about to marry a Duke. Roy Samuelson did this narration as well as Poker Face. he is everywhere.

tires- Shane and Will attend a conference. Shane really wants to see the keynote speaker, but Will didn’t get tickets, so he spends the whole time trying to get them, and inevitably works some great deals along the way. However, Will finds out his dad turned down the loan, because he wants out. Shane meets another car guy played by Vince Vaughn, who really does nothing more than be himself, but they use him really well. It’s a tough show to nail the audio description on, because there is a lot of audio description. So a character can feasibly enter a conversation without you knowing they were there.

Motorheads- I’ll hand it to the writers for making a finale that wasn’t quite as predictable as I thought. MAX just cancelled Duster, but Netflix renewed tires. it’s hard to say if show about cars or mechanics are hits right now, and if Amazon will give this young adult ensemble a second race to run.

Destination X- Jeffrey had them hopping all over, and kind of screwed with them a bit, since they had already been to Italy in the first episode. I realize he lists all these clues at the end, and the audio description doesn’t help us. It’s something that’s been nagging me, but at the same time, I think a sighted audience probably sees more and can figure out the locations from a lot of other information other than Jeffrey’s little clues.

Dexter- Dexter tries to get Lumen to trust him. Basically. I chose “The Head”, because there was something about how dexter goes back to work, walks in, and there’s just this decapitated head, and it’s just another day for him.

Department Q- I guess the mystery continues to evolve. I feel like I need a second watch of this. I say every time, people seem to like this more than me. I’m waiting to see the payoff in the finale.

Prison break- yeah, as more shows come on my watchlist, prison Break will inevitably fall off. I’m struggling without audio description. I’ll just watch the revival pretty much cold.

Poker Face- A gym owner, Brick (Method Man), ends up killing to protect a secret and his gym. of course, Charlie is on the case. She was really great in this scene where she ends up trapped in a Sauna, and she has to start doing ridiculous workouts to try and telegraph through an app to her friend (Natasha Leggaro), that she needs help. it is so ridiculous, but I loved it. The audio description during the murder sequence was really good, which is why I pegged it. Two men get in a silly workout fight, and one of them starts setting gym records while fighting the other.

Say Something!
