The Small Screen Diaries: 09/12/25

TV Shows Watched: Peacemaker: S2E4 (HBo MAX) with audio description, The Hunting Wives: S1E8 (Netflix) with audio description, The Summer I Turned Pretty: S1E7 (Amazon) with audio description, NCIS: Tony and Ziva: S1E3 (Paramount Plus) with audio description, Hitmakers: S1E7 (Netflix) with audio description, Match Game: S1E8 (Hulu) with audio description, The Rainmaker: s1E3 (Peacock) with audio description

Peacemaker- A bit slower episode in comparison to other episodes, as this was basically just Peacemaker trying to stop Argus from finding the portal. So, he has to move it before they are able to unlock the closet. There was a piece of the episode where Peacemaker fought off someone smaller than him, and I liked how the description worked that in, with Peacemaker landing on this much smaller guy. Still a fun show, but the pacing slowed a bit this week.

The Hunting Wives- Finished the season, and I plan on doing a review. Since I knocked out the Buccaneers and hostage yesterday, assume this is coming.

The Summer I Turned Pretty- Honestly, being this close to a series finale, and being so caught up in the “who will she choose” storyline is just killing the vibe. she’s in the middle of getting married to Jer, but oh no, gotta keep the brother on the side… in case we need to pivot. By constantly entertaining Connor, it makes it seem like Jeremiah was never a real option, and Connor was always going to be forgiven for his sins. You know.. other teen dramas don’t have the obvious couple end up together. Why is this show trying to self sabotage so hard?

NCIS: Tony and Ziva- I have no idea what’s happening. Three episodes, and I know nothing about their past. I’ve seen so little of this franchise, I would feel bad reviewing this show. My review would just be “not for people who aren’t already fans”. It expects you to know who these two are. With more new shows coming in, I can see this disappearing from my lineup, and also never getting enough episodes for me to feel comfortable reviewing it. That being said, the show seems to have good audio description. But, I’d leave that to an actual fan of this show to compare it to what they normally get.

Hitmakers- I could review this now. I don’t know why I added another episode. Ever since the drama started peaking like a typical reality show, I lost most interest.

Match Game- I keep hinting at how the AD could be better. I understand, they likely commissioned the whole season at once, and it was done before any comments could be made. If Match Game returns with the same level of shitty description, then fuck it. The funny thing was, I was watching this and my mom was out of the room when Beanie gave her answer that didn’t match, but she didn’t say it out loud, nor did the audio description. She’s become so used to hearing my audio description, that it allows her to multi-task on show like this, and even she was confounded by the audio description not reading what Beanie wrote. she asked me, and I’m like “I don’t know, I’m blind. I’m sorry an idiot wrote this description.” It also sounds TTS, which is just annoying. This is the season finale, so all my final comments are here. this AD makes weird choices on what to describe and what not to, and none of it makes any sense in terms of the actual show. It pays a lot of attention to Martin Short, but really nothing else. Do better.

The Rainmaker- There are and have been better legal dramas, but considering NBC Universal hasn’t been using USA for anything other than Resident Alien, I want this to jump start the days when USA had good TV shows like Burn Notice, Graceland, Covert Affairs, White Collar, and others. They had a strong run for a while, and now they barely exist as a channel. The core storyline revolving around the hospital is intriguing, but the guy showing up at the apartment felt unearned.

Say Something!
