Here are my (albeit unconventional) picks for Best Actor in a Comedy for the upcoming Emmy awards. This isn’t who I think will be nominated, but rather who I would be nominating (my wish list). The WGA in cooperation with TV Guide has released their list of the 101 (or so) Best Written TV Series Of All Time. Here’s that list:

1) The Sopranos- HBO

2) Seinfeld- NBC

3) The Twilight Zone- CBS

4) All In The Family- CBS

5) MASH- CBS

6) The Mary Tyler Moore Show- CBS

7) Mad Men- AMC

8) Cheers- NBC

9) The Wire- HBO

10) The West Wing- NBC

The Contenders: A Look At 5 Upcoming Oscar Hopefuls

1) Nebraska Alexander Payne (The Descendants, Sideways) returns with a film that was a huge hit at Cannes this year. Lead actor Bruce Dern even won an award there. With Will Forte in the cast, might he get a surprising Best Supporting Actor nomination? Or is Macgruber too much of a long shot? Nebraska features an aging alcoholic making a road trip with his son to claim a million dollar prize. Basically, the pundits agree that it is a strong contender for a Best Picture, Director, Actor, and Screenplay nomination.
