Well, one of my cancellation predictions came true. FOX has pronounced time of death on The Resident to be six seasons. 5) Top Chef (Bravo/Peacock) English Audio Description?: No So, I’m gonna tank one of my long time favorites this week. I thought the way this episode handled a contestant having a severe allergic reaction was a bit callous. They use the drama of the moment just enough to mention it, and have another contestant call for concern, but at no time do we hear anyone from the production team or medical stepping in to make sure her throat doesn’t … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- 04/06/23

I had a great time last night talking audio description with a group of industry officials who love it as much as I do. I’m grateful for the opportunity, and hope to continue to talk about expanding this accessibility whenever and wherever I can. 5) 5) 911 Lone Star (FOX/Hulu) English Audio Description?: No There was a scene where Mateo was slowly devolving into madness that I got totally lost. Trippy sequences that don’t really make sense in the normal order are even harder to follow without audio description. So, I guess he was getting blasted, and suddenly his life … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- 04/05/23

No major TV news yesterday that i caught, except that Showtime has already removed all episodes of the L Word: Generation Q from their service. Hope you weren’t behind. I am being featured tonight in a discussion with some audio description heavy hitters that I feel blessed to be a part of. The conversation is on LinkedIn. I finally had to join LinkedIn for this. hah. 7) Shadow and Bone (Netflix) English Audio Description?: Yes This was just a terribly competitive day. It’s not that I dislike this show, even though it sits at 7th, but rather that it ranks … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- 04/04/23

Since there are still some network bubble shows, and I have a bit of room today to talk about what I think will or won’t be back, I figured I’d take a look really quick before beginning the roundup. So if you read today, it’s a bonus for you. CBS: They only have three shows still waiting to hear. True Lies will be cancelled. I believe it is the lowest rated CBS scripted. East New York has been a moderate performer, and it’s my understanding that the biggest concern is over streaming rights. Basically, CBS wants to be able to … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- 04/03/23

I definitely watched a few less shows today, but a few of these are their first episodes (or at least the season premiere). 5) Reindogs (HBO MAX) English Audio Description?: Yes This Brit import turned out to be a comedy, which I found surprising, since its linear time slot follows Perry Mason. Now, I’m so confused as to who at HBO thought this paired well with Perry Mason, or if they even cared. Maybe they’re burning off episodes of something they have no intention of giving a second season. Who knows. I wasn’t expecting a comedy, and i got something … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- 04/02/23

We are already a quarter of the way through the year. Based on how fast I review films thus far, I’ll see 80 films this year. Of course, I know I’ll see more, but it’s crazy how slow accumulating that at the beginning of the year really is. 7) History Of The World Part 2 (Hulu) English Audio Description?: Yes There were times in the first episode that the comedy did feel in the style of Mel Brooks, but most of this doesn’t feel like him at all. I did laugh at the Lincoln segment in the first part. Making … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- 04/01/23

Lots of TV shows to discuss today. ABC has announced its plans to revive its TGIF lineup, with a mix of revivals and new series. First up, Melissa Joan hart is tapped to return as Sabrina, the 40-Something Witch, no other cast has been announced, though Caroline Rhea is expected to return since she hasn’t found anything to do since Match Game stopped making new episodes. The other show to anchor the lineup is Family Matters, taking a look at how Urkel and laura ended up with a family, and a set of kids that are mostly very different from … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- 04/01/23

Your random TV news for the day is for Blue Bloods fans. Not surprisingly, CBS finished contract negotiations and ordered a 14th season of the show. CBS required massive cost cuts, which meant the returning actors who have been on the show for 14 years had to take a pay hit. So now Tom Selleck really needs you to buy his reverse mortgages. I do expect them to close a new deal for SWAT (they’d be stupid to not renew a series that is climbing in the ratings), and I really don’t know what will happen with East New York, … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- 03/29/23

Just read a little blurb saying that House Of The Dragon’s second season may actually be shorter than the first, but along with that would come an early season three renewal. I guess it has more to do with how they wanted to leave Season 2, and not just pump the show full of filler. 6) That 90’s Show (Netflix) English Audio Description?: Yes For the 8th episode, Kitty easily stole this. Mostly, the half hour was about the kids trying to find their stash. I was a little surprised at how up front they were about searching for their … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- 03/28/23

I’d love to be able to open this column today with some sweet new TV buzz. I’ll say that it’s interesting to me that with the exception of True Lies, which CBS doesn’t seem to be considering to bring back, the little things holding up their last three shows are silly. blue Bloods has been running for 13 seasons, anchoring the lineup, and CBS is making the actors take pay cuts to lower production costs. Meanwhile, SWAT, which is one of those rare shows actually GAINING audience, is in the same boat. Gotta be cheaper if you wanna come back. … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- 03/27/23

Succession and Yellowjackets returned on the 26th, and one of these lovely and critically acclaimed shows has pretty easily accessible audio description. The other has audio description that is such a bitch to use, it’s like winning Squd Game. Like, one person inevitably will, but hundreds won’t. And it appears that Paramount Plus and their corporate structure could not care less. 9) True Lies (CBS/Paramount Plus) English Audio Description?: Yes There’s this thing that CBS shows do, where their audio description continually reminds you that you can get out of the audio description if you choose. To my knowledge, only … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- 03/26/23

The Too Much TV Roundup- 03/25/23

Obviously, a bit busier today. 4) Velma (HBo MAX) English Audio Description?: Yes one of those weird episodes where teens are dying, but they still gotta dance! Episode Grade: B 3) Anamaniacs (Hulu) English Audio Description?: Yes A very honest episode about watching episodes of Anamaniacs even when they don’t feature Pinky and the Brain… but it still featured them. I’m still sad Hulu let the Warners go, but more sad that Pinky and the Brain are gone again. Maybe HBO MAX can revive it since it’s technically their property? Episode Grade: A- 2) Not Dead Yet (Hulu) English Audio … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- 03/25/23

Just to clarify. Yesterday, I mentioned Alert, and how I bailed due to lack of audio description. I watch “too much TV”, thus the name of the roundup, meaning I rarely get to a show when it drops, unless it’s a big show i make time for like The Mandalorian or Ted Lasso. So, by the time I watched Alert, it wasn’t live, it was from hulu, which does not offer audio description for the title. however, I found out that live airings of that program had audio description. So, there you go. And in today’s news, Grey’s Anatomy was … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- 03/24/23

Well, FOX went ahead and renewed their shittiest shows first, making sure that Alert and Accused joined the already shitty and renewed The Cleaning Lady. I’m being a bit harsh. I thought The Cleaning Lady was dull, Alert was hard to follow without AD and the acting wasn’t great, and I just don’t enjoy shows formatted like Accused. Ironically, none of these shows are the top show of FOX, which is actually 911, which I’m hearing FOX is being a whiny little bitch about. Their top show is too expensive. Well, no shit. You landed Angela Bassett as the lead, and … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup: 03/23/23

I’m personally sad that it seems like all my favorite shows are either ending this year, or in their final season. I’d like this list to stop growing. But, as the final season of Ted Lasso is rolling, and the final season of succession is about to start, I’m reminded that the trailer dropped for the final season of The Marvelous Ms Maisel, and we’re still looking toward the final season of The Handmaid’s Tale, Stranger Things, The umbrella Academy, Cobra Kai, Outlander, and I’m sure some others I’ve chosen to forget. 7) The Equalizer (CBS/Paramount Plus) English Audio Description?: … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- 03/22/23
