Your random TV news for the day is for Blue Bloods fans. Not surprisingly, CBS finished contract negotiations and ordered a 14th season of the show. CBS required massive cost cuts, which meant the returning actors who have been on the show for 14 years had to take a pay hit. So now Tom Selleck really needs you to buy his reverse mortgages. I’d love to be able to open this column today with some sweet new TV buzz. I’ll say that it’s interesting to me that with the exception of True Lies, which CBS doesn’t seem to be considering to bring back, the little things holding up their last three shows are silly. blue Bloods has been running for 13 seasons, anchoring the lineup, and CBS is making the actors take pay cuts to lower production costs. Succession and Yellowjackets returned on the 26th, and one of these lovely and critically acclaimed shows has pretty easily accessible audio description. Just to clarify. Yesterday, I mentioned Alert, and how I bailed due to lack of audio description. I watch “too much TV”, thus the name of the roundup, meaning I rarely get to a show when it drops, unless it’s a big show i make time for like The Mandalorian or Ted Lasso. Well, FOX went ahead and renewed their shittiest shows first,making sure that Alert and Accused joined the already shitty and renewed The Cleaning Lady. I’m being a bit harsh. I thought The Cleaning Lady was dull, Alert was hard to follow without AD and the acting wasn’t great, and I just don’t enjoy shows formatted like Accused. I’m personally sad that it seems like all my favorite shows are either ending this year, or in their final season. I’d like this list to stop growing.
