Well, FOX went ahead and renewed their shittiest shows first, making sure that Alert and Accused joined the already shitty and renewed The Cleaning Lady. I’m being a bit harsh. I thought The Cleaning Lady was dull, Alert was hard to follow without AD and the acting wasn’t great, and I just don’t enjoy shows formatted like Accused. Ironically, none of these shows are the top show of FOX, which is actually 911, which I’m hearing FOX is being a whiny little bitch about. Their top show is too expensive. Well, no shit. You landed Angela Bassett as the lead, and she’s now never been more popular. Still I’m hearing that 911 and 911 Lone Star are looking good, while everyone assumed The Resident would die this year, and they seem to be right. I know people who worked on The Resident, and they didn’t expect to be coming back to work again. Meanwhile, that shitfest Welcome To Fletch, which is FOX’s least watched show, may actually get the pickup over Call me Kat, because it’s cheaper and pairs better with their newer hit Animal Control. That’ll come down to pilots I presume. Fantasy Island is looking like they may push that back to being a summer show.
And just in case any of you watch L Word: Generation Q, I have great news! They cancelled it. Showtime has opted to end this version and just reboot the original instead, because that worked SO well over at Peacock for Queer As Folk.
6) The Rookie: Feds (ABC)
English Audio Description?: Yes
Some kid with diplomatic immunity from Belarus is trying to print counterfeit money, and Simone needs a nap. They make so many references to Simone being tired, that you know it’s going to cause something to happen. This show is not a well written show.
Episode Grade: C+
5) The Masked Singer (FOX/Hulu)
English Audio Description?: No
While The Masked Singer featured two people who were not great singers this week, and who I couldn’t care about in the least, at least the worst two got sent home.
Episode Grade: B
4) Top Chef (Bravo/Peacock)
English Audio Description?: No
As soon as they started floating the idea that Dawn’s dish wasn’t very good, I knew she was done for. They have multiple American contestants, so they can and need to drop at least one early. They can’t have an international Top Chef where the finalists are all American.
Final Grade: B+
3) Extraordinary (Hulu)
English Audio Description?: Yes
Jen meets another woman without powers, and since she’s fighting currently with her actual BFF, she makes this new girl her best friend. But, will it last forever? My favorite part of the episode was when JizzLord thought a pint of his blood would help someone figure out who he was.
Episode Grade: A-
2) you (Netflix)
English Audio Description?: Yes
I’ve heard there was a big twist, was that it? Was that reveal of who was behind all of it the actual twist? They picked the worst possible character, and the story in my mind was already more interesting. I suppose there’s an element to that person that makes them interesting, but I’ll be honest and say I forgot that person existed. They made no impression on me. So, while the rest of the episode was cool, I was a little like… wait. Who is that?
Episode Grade: A-
1) Abbott Elementary (ABC/Hulu)
English Audio Description?: Yes
AVA Fest was a hit! in the goofiest and most endearing way possible, the Abbot team rallied their community against the charter school. Hopefully it sticks. I don’t need them to change their format this early on to represent these teachers working in charter school environment.
Episode Grade: A
