‘Behind The Candelabra’ hits record for HBO movies

Steven Soderbergh’s Behind The Candelabra logged 2.4 million viewers on Sunday, which is the highest viewership for an HBO original movie since 2004’s Something The Lord Made, which was seen by 2.6 million viewers. HBO’s last biopic, Phil Spector, starring Al Pacino, managed only 754K for its first airing, in comparison. Including the 11PM replay, Behind The Candelabra had a total of 3.5 million viewers on Sunday night. The Michael Douglas/Matt Damon movie is certain to be rewatched several times as it continues to steamroll competition on its way to Emmy night.
