The Mandalorian and Grogu

John Stark

Sometimes being able to Monday morning quarterback a film is a little bit more interesting, because you get to see the car accident of film critics clashing over the initial release, fighting to get their opinions out there and determining whether or not they have the most valid opinion in the marketplace. Well, hold my beer, because the blind film critic has entered the chat. I did not see The Mandalorian and Grogu on the big screen. Of course, I really don’t see anything on the big screen, thus the blind film critic part. Instead, I watched this with audio … Continue reading The Mandalorian and Grogu

I’m trying to keep up with the bottom three on Dancing With The Stars, and Adrian Peterson has made it further than I thought he would. it’s almost like he’s made a switch or something. 6) Ahsoka (Disney Plus) English Audio Description?: Yes Status: Not Yet Renewed in case you are wondering how the final episode of the Disney Plus series wound up at the bottom, I have two words for you. Stormtrooper Zombies. No thank you. I love Rosario Dawson, but this show has seemingly gone out of its way to be the weirdest and most disappointing series so … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- 10/10/23

Tubi really does have some deep cuts in terms of shows they have that are no longer on the air. Check out what I found in the rankings below. 8) Name That Tune (Hulu) English Audio Description?: No Status: Not Yet Renewed Megan Hilty! That’s really all I needed. I wish the show skewed in her favor, and she had to guess something like Secondhand White Baby Grand from Smash. It didn’t happen. Episode Grade: B 7) 911 (Hulu) English Audio Description?: No Status: Moved To ABC This episode, S4E2, featured a catastrophe that kinda needed audio description, but once … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- 10/04/23

This time, I really didn’t stay up for any grouping of seven people on the same stage. but, I did watch some interesting shows, and we got a better timeline of how quickly some of these other shows are returning to air. 10) Name That Tune (FOX) English Audio Description?: No Status: Not Yet Renewed I suppose they had to release the crappy matches at some point so they dumped them both in the same episode. Both of these matchups featured a lot of misses, which made it not very interesting. Pick people who know music. The football players got … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- 09/27/23

Totes forgot to mention, perhaps because it doesn’t have audio description and I stopped watching it, that Dark Winds was renewed for a third season. So, any lingering fans out there, you may celebrate. 11) Adventure Time (MAX) English Audio Description?: No Status: Ended Finn tries to convince a tree trunk to have an adventure. I love that these episodes are so short. Episode Grade: B 10) Futurama (Hulu) English Audio Description?: No Status: Revival Now Running in the season 3 premiere, Bender is affected by a were-car, which of course takes the gang on a strange journey. rarely do … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- 09/20/23

*NSYNC is back! That’s your entire news bulletin at the top. I know it’s short, but, they did record a new song for the next Trolls movie. Also, apparently they made another Trolls movie. 11) Chip and Dale’s Rescue Rangers (Disney Plus) English Audio Description?: No Status: Ended I don’t expect linear storytelling, but to sudddenly watch an episode where I guess the Rangers are on another continent, and their aircraft is being worshipped by flightless Kiwi birds really made me think how the hell they got there. Then the whole episode becomes about Dale stubbing his toe and being … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- 09/13/23

Warner TV suspended it’s TV deals with a lot of the major showrunners they had deals with. This strike is just one big power play for the studios. I’m surprised they aren’t just going around cancelling a ton of shows. 11) Family Matters (MAX) English Audio Description?: Yes Status: Ended Continuing his reign of terror, Urkel is given the right to direct a video for the family he’s not a part of. This is still season 1, and a character who wasn’t even in the first couple episodes has already taken over the series. Episode Grade: C+ 10) Designing Women … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- 09/06/23

Well, Hulu rocked the internet with the cancellation of The Great. Just me posting that on my personal facebook feed got more comments than anything I’ve posted in the past month. People are irate to say the least. I’m not really sure what that decision was, to not announce a final season, but it’s a very bizarre call for a streamer about to raise their prices. in other TV news, the Lincoln Lawyer was picked up officially by Netflix for Season 3, which I’m not surprised by at all. 12) Outlander (Starz) English Audio Description?: No Status: Final Season Still … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- 08/30/23

I didn’t quite get through as much again today as I had hoped. However, I did watch this thing at night where a bunch of people gathered on a stage to squabble for two hours. There really isn’t a grade I could give that, so it’s not included. 6) Designing Women (Hulu) English Audio Description?: No Status: Ended I needed to kill some time. honestly, I’m acknowledging that I kinda watched an episode of this because I had enough time before the aforementioned event, but i really didn’t pay attention. Big TV News? Knock At The Cabin is coming to Peacock next week. Maybe that counts? Saturdays are not known for being big news days. 8) The Bad batch (Disney Plus) English Audio Description?: Yes I think, I’m not really into this series anymore. i feel like I’m trying to force myself through this season, but truthfully, The mandalorian is making me realize what it is I actually want out of a Star Wars show. Running these two on top of each other is a mistake. I don’t know that I’ll finish the season. Episode Grade: C+ 7) 1923 (Paramount … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- 03/18/23

Nerd Day! A bunch of things aimed at a very specific group all dropped today. All of this, plus I managed a multiverse of madness. 1) The Umbrella Academy (Netflix) English Audio Description Available?: Yes Maybe it was the dance fight. No, it was definitely the dance fight, dream sequenced or not, that sent this episode to the top of my rankings chart. Really happy to have this show back for another 10 episodes. I was wondering when they were going to address the Vanya/Elliot Page need to transition the character, but not in the first episode would be that … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- June 22nd

Five shows should be easy to rank. Right? I also squeezed in a movie, so this short list is somewhat deceiving. 1) Killing It (Peacock) English Audio Description Available?: Yes The 6th episode of this increasingly more and more hilarious sitcom found Craig outside in a massive line waiting to vote just to make his daughter happy, while being followed around by an insurance agent. Meanwhile, Jillian’s sister is the literal worst. Or maybe her dogs are. I can’t tell. Probably both. I was highly anticipating the new entries, but it ended up with the same predictable show on top anyway. 1) The Last Days of Ptolemy Gray (Apple Plus) English Audio Description Available?: Yes in the series finale, time is not on Ptolemy’s side. Still, it’s amazing that this miracle drug managed to give Ptolemy the kind of final closure he needed on his life so he could finally be at peace with himself, knowing that he left everything the way he wanted, instead of wondering what that nagging feeling was at the back of his mind. It’s a great performance … Continue reading The Too Much TV Roundup- June 8th

Box Office Predictions: Can ‘The Last Jedi’ Hit 200M?

John Stark

With the total lack of new releases the past two weeks (except for that sad Morgan Freeman/Tommy Lee Jones thing), the box office is wide open for Star Wars Episode VIII: The Last Jedi to come in and do some truly amazing work. Of course, when a film is tracking this high, it’s almost impossible to land a perfect dart. I’ve seen everything from 180M to 220M. I do think Ferdinand will open well, and that could take a small chunk away from The Last Jedi. Small though. As far as holdovers go, with all the “awards” announcements, films like … Continue reading Box Office Predictions: Can ‘The Last Jedi’ Hit 200M?
