Actor Profile: Amy Adams

I had no idea who Amy Adams was, until Catch Me If You Can. I had already apparently seen her in two films, though I hated Pumpkin and blocked it from my memory. She’s kind of a newer actress, really breaking through in 2005 with her Oscar nominated performance in Junebug (which I haven’t seen).

BEST PERFORMANCE:
Previously, I would have said The Fighter, but I have to pick Arrival as her strongest performance. It’s insane that she wasn’t nominated. That film is terrific, and she’s magnificent in it.

MOST ICONIC PERFORMANCE
It’s tough to say, but she might be best known for being Lois Lane after this new Batman Vs Superman comes out, but right now she’s probably best known for Enchanted.

MOST UNDERRATED PERFORMANCE
OK, I thought she was great as Amelia Earhart in Night At The Museum: Battle Of The Smithsonian. I loved her in that so much that I wish it had been her instead of Hilary Swank in that abysmal Amelia movie.

BEST PERFORMANCE I’VE HEARD WAS GOOD AND HAVEN’T SEEN
This award is tied between both Big Eyes and Junebug.

WORST PERFORMANCE/FILM
Well, her worst FILM is certainly Pumpkin, though I don’t remember her role in it at all. I barely remember the film. I built a mental wall around it. Honestly, its one of only a small handful of films that I actually walked out on. She doesn’t really give bad performances.

1) Pumpkin (2002)
