The Too Much TV Roundup- May 26th

Somehow, in and around the movies, I’m still managing to knock out series. It’s a tough job, but someone’s gotta do it. Lol.

1) Better Call Saul (Netflix/AMC)

English Audio Description available?: Yes

in the 7th episode of Season 5, jimmy and Kim worked toward a closure on their Green Table (aka Mesa Verde) plot, which led to not only a whopper of a gimmick from Saul Goodman, but in the episode’s B-Plot, mike worked to remove Lallo from the equation without personally linking himself to the events. So many actors deserve Emmy’s from this series.

Episode Grade: A

2) New Amsterdam (NBC/Peacock/Hulu)

English Audio Description Available?: Depends On Service

In the season finale, a hurricane hit the hospital, and while the episode itself underwhelmed me to some extent (maybe because for years I lived with the constant trauma of Grey’s Anatomy murdering half its cast in Season Finales), what it did do was give Tyler Labine a chance to really soar as Iggy. He’s always been great in this role, and an unsung hero. He had his opportunity to step up as New Amsterdam needed a leader out of the crisis, which really helped fuel his decision that his marriage was based on the idea that he needed to be fixed, when there’s nothing wrong with him. Finally, the doctor is taking some of his own medicine.

Episode Grade: A-, Season Grade: A

3) Killing It (Peacock)

English Audio Description Available?: Yes

Our favorite snake hunters take a break to attend a conference where they learn how to pitch, and be bosses. Of course, it’s overpriced crap, but our gang seems to not know that. Wait until a 10 year old girl starts giving a lecture on who is hot and who is not to a room full of adult men.

Episode Grade: A-

4) The G Word with Adam Conover (Netflix)

English Audio Description: Yes

Adam takes a look at how our government tracks weather phenomenon, how private companies are trying to take information that is supposed to be free to us, and repackage it for a charge, and why FEMA is always failing us.

Episode Grade: A-

5) Jeopardy (Syndication)

English Audio Description: no

I usually run this at a B, but with Ryan long hitting his 10th win, I figured that was a reason to bump it up a notch for an episode. I managed another 22 right, but this time, no Final. I didn’t feel too bad, as no one got Final Jeopardy lat night.

Episode Grade: B+

6) DMZ (HBO MAX)

English Audio Description Available?: Yes

Following the death of *spoiler*, Rosario Dawson decides someone new needs to stand up to the other side in the race. Is that someone else her?

Episode Grade: B

7) Name That Tune (FOX/Hulu)

English Audio Description Available?: No

in the final episode of Season 2, people strugggled to name the most basic of songs.

Episode Grade: B, Season 2 Grade: B

8) Cheers (Paramount Plus)

English Audio Description Available?: No

Norm really does love his wife after all, he just doesn’t want the guys to know it.

Episode Grade: B-

9) Star Trek Picard (Paramount Plus)

English Audio Description Available?: Yes

Patrick Stewart is still magnificent in a series that is becoming less and less interesting to me. I fizzled out with Star Trek Discovery at one point too. I’m hoping Lower Decks keeps me interested.

Episode Grade: C+
