The Too Much TV Roundup- 02/15/23

While I did not see last nights Masked Singer, I did hear about that elimination. I know some people think the show is done and over, but it still manages to draw that level of talent, something that Dancing With The Stars hasn’t been able to do for a while. So, for now, it would seem The Masked Singer can stick around. No reality stars got eliminated this week lol.

6) 6) Night Court (NBC/Peacock)

English Audio Description?: Yes

While it still sits at the bottom of the list, the third episode of the series had a much needed jolt of better writing. It’s odd that Melissa Rauch is still the least funny thing about this show, but an episode that had her messing up an undercover operation saw her reconsider her kindness toward strangers, which gave John Larroquette finally something to work with. I will say that her bailiff is pretty entertaining, though perhaps a bit dumb for her actual job, but it’s sitcom rules, so whatever. And the prosecutor having a meltdown the whole episode was funny. So, finally an episode of this series worked. Larroquette bought it 3 episodes with me, and it starts working just in time to stick around.

Episode Grade: B

5) Velma (HBO MAX)

English Audio Description?: Yes

This show gets a lot of hate, but I think a lot of it is misplaced. Sure, it’s messing up your favorite cartoon gang, and I watched Scooby Doo as a kid too, so I can see that. But Scooby isn’t here. Just a little handful of characters you’ve seen before, doing ridiculous things.

Episode Grade: B

4) Emily In PAris (Netflix)

English Audio Description?: Yes

As we are now one episode out from the season finale (at least I am), I’m betting something happens with Emily and Alfie. It was basically hitting you over the head with that concept this week. However, what made this interesting, is that her BFF’s boyfriend is like some secret Bond villain. I love the audio description that had him sneering at Emily at just the right time, like he has some major nefarious plot cooked up. Remember, this is the son of a guy who was blackmailed into trying to force his son’s hands with a little hint of #MeToo. Perhaps his attitude toward women doesn’t fall far from the tree.

Episode Grade: B+

3) The Legend Of Vox Machina (Amazon)

English Audio Description?: Yes

What a way to end the third episode. Also, all the backstory between brother and sister really helped drive home this bond they had. Do I believe that ending will stick? Of course not.

Episode Grade: A

2) The Good Doctor (ABC/Hulu)

English Audio Description?: No

One of their off weeks I suppose. They had multiple story lines again. The C plot was barely there, but featured our favorite “we’re just friends now” people working on the fancy new trial and trying to figure out what was wrong, the 2nd plot that was fairly emotional featured a vlogging teen who really needed new lungs, but her new set needed a lot of work, and in the top plot, which allowed Sean to think about his upcoming parenting skills, two parents argued as their son fought for his life, and what started out as a nail in the foot, ended up with brain surgery. This show still has the ability to work, and with New Amsterdam now gone, it’s the only medical drama I watch.

Episode Grade: A

1) The Rookie (ABC/Hulu)

English Audio Description?: Yes

in another crossover episode, the Rookie cast worked alongside most of the Feds cast to trap Elijah and get him off the playing field for good, and for everyone’s safety. Meanwhile, John went up to get his mother’s estate in order, only to find trouble. One day, he and Bailey will be able to take a normal vacation, without there being threats of violence. I need to see Feds now to see how this all resolves.

Episode Grade: A
