Paramount Plus and i are about to butt heads. I found out that they finally uploaded audio description for Everything Everywhere All At Once, which is a Showtime title. They still have not uploaded audio description for actual Showtime series that have known audio description. Winter is coming, you Paramount bitches. You can bother to do the work to get audio description for an A24 title, but not one of your own shows? That makes no sense.
15) TransAtlantic (Netflix)
English Audio Description?: Yes
Status: Limited Series
I was on the fence after the first episode, but the second episode did even less for me than the first. In a world of thousands of hours of television, this is the end of the road for this.
Episode Grade: C
14) Clarissa Explains it All (Paramount plus)
English Audio Description?: No
Status: Ended
What a blast from the past. but, sometimes… never meet your heroes. I loved this show growing up, and I don’t think it’s the lack of audio description, but rather that this show isn’t the pinnacle of entertainment I remember it being. It’s so weird, because she doesn’t sound like Melissas Joan Hart at all to me. There were times the sound quality suffered. I did remember the videogame she made with Fergus in it, and how Sam never used doors. I’ll probably keep watching it anyway.
Episode Grade: C+
13) The Adventures Of The Gummi Bears (Disney plus)
English Audio Description?: No
Status: Ended
Don’t judge me. i turn 40 next month, and I’m clearly having a mid-life crisis where I’m revisiting old shows. The voice acting here was so instantly memorable, but i gotta be honest with the first episode… who the hell is Gavin? Is he in other episodes? i think once I get past Gavin, and his awful expository dialogue, we’ll be good to go.
Episode Grade: C+
12) All In The Family (Free Vee)
English Audio Description?: No
Status: Ended
This makes no sense. Archie is mad at the Meathead for his tax refund and how he wants to donate some of it to the McGovern campaign instead of giving it to him, which turns into a really contentious episode where nothing was really funny or made sense.
Episode Grade: B-
11) Shrinking (Apple Plus)
English Audio Description?: yes
Status: Renewed
I wish they would just make the show about Harrison Ford’s character. It’s not that there aren’t other interesting characters that have their moments, but in a Jason Segal versus Harrison Ford world, Ford is winning by miles. His acting, and his story arc is just far more compelling. Having that fight with his daughter, while she has no idea he’s having a Parkinson’s moment where he can’t move, and she walks out is devestating. Meanwhile, Segal is worried about who he slept with last night. It’s like Night and Day.
Episode Grade: B
10) Futurama (Hulu)
English Audio Description?: No
Status: Being Revived
Since the new season of Futurama isn’t far away, i figured it was time to restart watching this. A lot of the jokes I remember from the pilot don’t translate well without audio description. The pilot was an interesting introduction to the characters from what i could remember, but some of the magic is gone when you can’t see it.
Episode Grade: B
Young Sheldon (HBo MAX)
English Audio Description?: Yes
Status: Renewed At CBS
Starting this from square one. I loved that Sheldon just casually has perfect pitch, and learning his dad’s backstory was kind of poignant, but for the most part… this is not the Big Bang Theory.
Episode Grade: B
8) Friends (HBo MAX)
English Audio Description?: Yes

Phoebe gets the other girls to read a bizarre book. But, luckily Chandler’s story arc of trying to get rid of his increasingly terrifying roommate makes this episode worthwhile.

The gang tries to sell the pika to dealers. They are not having it. rabbits ensue.

6) The Traitors Australia (Peacock)
English Audio Description?: no
Status: unknown
Well, the Faithful finally got a Traitor, because the other Traitors threw him under the bus. The thing is… I know Traitors think this is a power play, but had the two who voted for Angus voted for Theresa instead, one more faithful would be gone, which is actually the objective. if the four of them keep voting as a block, eventually they would win, because they’d be able to either vote off, or eliminate by murdering all of the faithful. They aren’t too far away from that reality, but they chose perceived self preservation over voting strength.

5) Anamaniacs (Hulu)
English Audio Description?: Yes
Status: Final Season
The series finale (again) at Hulu. They clearly knew it was the end. Although, the final episode focuses heavily on the Warners, and some faces we never really got to see, and only barely on Pinky and the Brain. I did really appreciate the meta ending.

Watching Amy ask her comatose boyfriend to the dance is still one of the saddest and most beautiful things. I loved Everwood so much. And this was the STD episode. Bonus points.

OK. I’m hooked. Between Napoleon’s toilet and the hawk, I don’t even know where to begin anymore. This episode is hilarious.

1) Better Call saul (AMC/Netflix)
English Audio Description?: Yes

The second episode had me holding my breath. So many tense moments. Mike had a gun to his head, and was cool as a cucumber. nacho is surprisingly good at survival. And Kim’s speech at the end was badass.
